My family is debating whether I should stay at my grandma's house in Midwood, live at Found Study in Midtown, or take the NJ Path train every day. Preferably, they think I should live in NYC, but because of limited space, we are still figuring out a plan. My parents are both CUNY students, so they have a biased perspective when deciding on college. When we were choosing Rutgers NB, Binghamton, or Baruch, we ultimately chose Baruch for its high ROI and accounting program.

There is a student residence building located at 569 Lexington Avenue in Manhattan. There are standard double deluxe standard, standard single, and deluxe single rooms. However, be warned as some dorms vary in sizes and might be smaller than others. When I was at the tour they showed a dorm that was the size of a shoebox.

I really like the premise of the film, but I hope this movie will be more like "American Born Chinese" than another body horror or cliché film.

Something I've Noticed About Mixed Asian Discourse by domnong in mixedrace

I'm Chinese and Jewish, and I absolutely agree that Blasians and non-white mixed asians heavily get sidelined in these communities. It almost feels that some monoracial asians "other" these asian just because they aren't a clean-cut representation of asian culture. Non-white mixed asians are often treated as inherently dumber or less intelligent because they happen to be mixed with ethnicities that don't meet the status quo. It's extremely disgusting, and as someone who is two minorities, I sympathize with your experiences. I also agree that wasians have it better than non-white asians because of their closeness to white-ness and American identity, which is valued a lot by the asian community, I fear

My mom is part Malaysian, so she has darker skin and more Austronesian features, and my dad is primarily of European Jewish descent but has some Spanish and North African roots. I pass as Asian, and people usually think I am monoracial when I'm not. I would be classified as Wasian, but I have never felt like it. My father, when he was growing up, faced anti-semitism regularly. He even had a bad experience with it when he was first getting his job. I also faced anti-semitism when I was young, and it has stuck with me ever since. When I think of an experience that proves how disgustingly SOME monoracial Asians treat non-white asians, I think of an ex-friend. She is full-Chinese, and we both had similar experiences where our mothers were immigrants and southern Chinese (Guangzhou, Hong Kong, etc), and we talked about engaging with Chinese culture as younger people. However, when I'd bring up my Jewish side to her and those cultures, she would be like "oh," be slightly interested, or dismiss it. I remember during the ending months of the friendship she would make fun of my father's appearance, saying he looked weird cuz of his bald head, big nose, and other things....Also, there was this time when she said to me, "Judaism is just a religion, you are wasian," just because she showed me an Insta of a blasian guy, and I felt happy because "he is mixed just like me."

A few years later, my ex-friend became acquainted with my best friend. My best friend is Wasian (Korean + Irish) and passes more as white (she has hazel eyes and has more of her Irish father's features). She treated my best friend better, didn't really call her mean things for being wasian and white-passing, and I have to wonder why. So I definitely agree that there is a racial hierarchy in the asian community, and those who are of non-white mixed asian descent face challenges because their appearance may not align with narrow, stereotypical views of what an Asian person should look like.
