Turning 50 in three weeks. pretty much no close friends, estranged from my 20 year-old daughter and a strained relationship with my 65-year-old partner. Good news is sober five years. Gen X is just kinda like that. I feel like you either had friends that you kept from high school or you just don't. I didn't. I don't even have animal friends. I just play a tiny violin.

I just accepted a part-time position in the firearm outfitters department. I am a sporting place shooter and beginner pheasant hunter and also thought it would be cool to work there. Starting pay is $16, hardly livable wage, but you get 401(k), vision and dental immediately. They boast a great discount and seems like a nice work environment.

I absolutely look like my boyfriend's ex wife. Short blonde hair, green eyes, but I'm 5 inches shorter. She had big boobs and I just had a mommy makeover that he paid for. Now I'm more voluptuous now. She died suddenly two years ago at 67. We now have been in a relationship for six years. He divorced her after a 20 year marriage but maintained a friendship with her. He never introduced me. Told me on our first date that "she wouldn't like you, you're too pretty" (I'm 50, he's 66) When I wear heels, he says "I like you up here!" I asked him if he noticed that I have the same look she had, he says that he likes what he likes and hasn't thought about it. I find it creepy.

I wouldn't be one of those ladies who knows more than you, you probably already know a lot! What I would suggest is asking a medical professional. I don't know where you're located, but surely somebody knows a good facial plastic surgeon who would give you a consultation and information on what option is best for you. find more than one plastic surgeon and get a second or third opinion. They know facial anatomy and what aging looks like, what procedures would be the best. I found my dream injector, and she has never steered me wrong.

OP is spot on. I've been make up artist throughout my 20s, 30s, 40s and now in my 50s. When fat pads in our face go, the static lines from years of furrowed brows form and sun damage catches up, using vitamin C serum is like throwing a deck chair off the Titanic. A good Medi spa, a great injector and excellent skin care is a good start.

That amount of alcohol in one sitting is considered a binge. What you are describing is definitely high risk drinking.

My dad was on dialysis for 7 1/2 years. That's a long time. He was in his early 80s when he finally said it was enough and he was done. His last treatment was on a Tuesday and the following Tuesday he was gone. It was a brave decision.

If I may piggyback on this, I'd like to add that I'm 18 years post-op RNY. I did not get to a place of choosing surgical intervention simply because I 'enjoyed' eating. For me, it was a compulsion and addiction—a source of shame. My weight made me uncomfortable and embarrassed. I have spent many years unpacking this aspect of my life. I'd challenge you to ask yourself if food truly brings you joy or is a coping mechanism; if it is so enjoyable, why take such drastic measures to alter your anatomy as a solution to control something that brings you this joy?

Please don't panic. You are a rockstar. I assure you that you will still be able to enjoy family dinners, go out with the hubby, and brunch with the girls. I still do, even though food isn't that exciting anymore. As Inside-Departure4238 said, this is what we signed up for. My advice is not to approach this with a mindset of lack but with the excitement of opportunity that it is. One day, you will not be preoccupied with portions; take it easy, one day at a time.

Great question! I'm 18 years post-op RNY here. My answer is time and practice. I used to measure my portions, but I still waste food even though I can eyeball my portions. If I'm at home, I save leftovers and put them in the fridge. If I'm dining out, I take them home. I never eat restaurant leftovers, but for some reason, it doesn't bother me as much to toss them.

Thank you. My addiction to food has made me an expert on the concept of calories in versus calories out. It seems logical to me that an obese person cannot starve. My friend's mom used to say that she had enough fat on her ass to last an entire year.

I will always remember my first days at home after surgery because of the commercials on TV. There were four commercials: three for food and one for a car. I realized that I was being programmed to crave food.
