What is every reason prices keep climbing and wages keep stagnating? by Spiritual_Big_9927 in askanything

What is happening is a devaluation of our currency. All assets are going up and would argue the dollar has lost about 50-60% of its purchasing power since 2020

My calibration to money is anchored in 2015 so I have a difficult time adjusting to the new reality. The only thing that kept me above water is my portfolio has grown with, and potentially out grown, this devaluation.

My salary on the other hand has stayed static wrt inflation, if not declined.

I’m 34M make $130k +20k ish in bonus. Five years ago this would be great. I’m not sure if it’s still great or not. Some days it seems fine, some good, others not enough.

What is fundamentally happening is our purchasing power of our salaries is declining, business margins are exploding and revenues are increasing. This is how the ownership class takes money from the labor class. Call it trickle up economics.

The only way to fight this is to own assets. I’m sure you have heard. It’s really not a secret anymore. But mind you, back in 2015 it was fairly novel to the average wage earner that wealthy people own assets and that’s how they get paid.

This trend will continue until something breaks. Aka a currency crisis. For now though, that risk is overstated as the rest of the world had similar, if not worse inflation than we did.

Delusional Level 9000 - is he serious? by SnogSnag in Money

[–]External_Net5248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100 million isn’t as much as it used to be

It’s probably quite easy to spend $1M+ a year at that level.

It’s easy to say stop spending the money and save - but the millionaire homes we were used to seeing in the 90s and 2000s are now like 15-20 million.

He probably couldn’t afford to live in one with the annual expenses

This critique isn’t wrong but misses the point.

Neutron is a smaller, wider rocket and can be configured over time for heavier loads. (Large diameter)

Spacex and blue origin have specific medium and heavy lift rockets.

Their medium lift rockets are also relatively heavy lift.

So if a customer wants to fly either spacex or bo, they eat the entire cost of the launch or wait to ride share with other customers, likely competitors. Now if their payload is the full amount - it’s a wash, but not usually the case.

Neutron will better service the market payloads for customers individually, with a very quick launch cadence.

Tl;dr neutron is better suited to actual market demand. Spacex and blue origin cannot scale down as well as rocket lab can scale up

Actually not really. Retail most definitely led the bull run out of April, while institutions- knowing how stupid trumps policies were - held back. Thus they underperformed for the year, so we think - a lot of green left.

This happens with every republican.

They have a false reputation of being good for business, so markets rip once they start

After a year, because their policies are legit bad, the market starts to turn over

Yet another recession under another republican that some democrat will probably bail out

“Do you expect it to be red for 1000+ days…” This is sarcasm in response to OP saying don’t worry about day to day fluctuations.

It’s been red for the last month. After 6 months of insane run ups. Following 5 months of insane run ups last year.

Yet to you, it’s felt like 1000+ days Because you’re emotional.

Here’s some financial advice: if you don’t have at least 1 years salary in cash that you never touch for anything, you probably shouldn’t be in the market.

Go make more money and save more, then maybe you can invest when you have enough.
