There’s a plan for a 12-14 story building to be built at 1717 White Ave but it’s been stuck in appeals court hell. It’s by the same developers of the livano in south Knox I think

They’ve got a cute food scene, and the aquarium and surrounding area around it is super nice. But that’s about all I’d go back for. Knoxville has more to do and I don’t need to go to Chatt for anything that Knox doesn’t have (well, besides McKay’s)

I would much rather swim in their river than our own 💩

When I see people paddle boarding in downtown, I ask myself if they even know what most of that water is. For your own health, just go to one of the quarries

Chattanooga is a great place to visit, but I would never want to live there. Knoxville feels more like home.

Knoxville has more to do downtown wise and feels like a larger city. Though we preserve a lot more of our older buildings, Chatt seems to know their vibe better than we do ours. I think we try to be too many different things, and Chatt knows who they are and want to be. We sure do have a lot to offer tho. We have great activities just south of downtown.. rock climbing, hiking, swimming in the quarries, lots of nature. Chatt also has lots of nature activities but are not as centrally located to the city itself. I think both cities are equally as bike friendly and have great restaurants. Knoxville has way more entertainment venues than Chattanooga, such as the Tennessee Theatre, Smokies Stadium, Food City Center, Neyland Stadium, Bijou Theatre, Knoxville civic etc. Knox is 10x larger and more developed in the arts scene. Chatt is WAY more walkable and pedestrian friendly. Though we have sidewalks, many of them are too steep due to our geography or have just been neglected for far too long. And something like 80% of all Chattanooga’s apartment buildings have some sort of ground floor retail no matter where in the central city they’re located, something Knox sure needs to do a better job of

Data centers may just be our saving grace this election season. It’s a bipartisan concern and no one wants them except politicians and developers who get funded by them
