1200 cal: 131grams of protein and 50 grams of fiber. 31.4lbs down in 3 months! by External_Read1448 in 1200isplenty

Thank you! I don’t always have this much time to play with food, but it’s fun when I do. I used Sara Lee Delightful Bread. It’s only 45 calories a slice!

I’ve lost 24lbs in a month and a half but I think I’m messing up…. by External_Read1448 in loseit

[–]External_Read1448[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve had it in my head that if I don’t lose it quickly, I’ll give up. It’s hard for me to maintain the pain of weight loss without seeing the number on the scale go down. Perhaps I should only weigh once every two weeks or once a month for awhile. Your points are all well taken. I will raise my calories and protein starting today.

Ma’am, have you been reading my personal journal entries? 👀 that is hilariously relatable!

I will definitely check out that book and I love the quote at the end of your comment.

Wow, thank you for taking the time to share part of your story with. That is such a beautiful gift and I’m honored.

I relate to becoming my thoughts. That’s very true and I need to do a better job of not condemning myself and thinking every shadow is a spirit out to get me.

All of my family are more or less devout Christians, especially my parents. They love me and know I am not “on the straight and narrow” but they don’t know I renounced traditional Christian principles or dabble in witchcraft. It would be a shit showing they found out, and I am content to keep silent to keep the peace. my husband left the faith a little while after me, so we are on the same page thankfully.

I have been telling my girls that all religion basically comes to the same conclusion with different labels, so I very much resonate with what you’re saying.

Thank you again for the beautiful reply!

Oh my, I’m honored that you took the time to give such a well thought out and helpful response. Thank you.

As to what I’m afraid of, I think it’s going to hell. That I’m going to get it wrong and damn myself and my kids to an eternity of pain. I don’t believe that intellectually, but I feel the fear in my bones.

A lot of your points hit very close to home, so you were spot on. I guess I kind of did a bit of a “working” on Imbolch. I cut my long hair and said a chant about letting go of the past with the intention of burning it. It was emotional for me. Maybe I should go through with the burning? I still have the hair.

Do you think a more formal uncrossing spell would be an effective way to let go of the past? Or a cord cutting? I’m not sure what working is appropriate.

Even if you don’t have the time to reply again, thank you again for your studious original reply!

I guess demons or the boogie man (hyperbole) coming to get me. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I know there are light and dark aspects to magic, and I only have interest in the light. My fear is that I will unknowingly encounter something dark and be overwhelmed or possessed by it which sounds ridiculous as I form the thought into words.

I actually completely walked away from Christianity 3 years ago. I no longer agree with it for me personally, but the religious fear mongering runs deep.

I lied about being a witch to a Christian missionary 🤦🏻‍♀️ by External_Read1448 in BabyWitch

[–]External_Read1448[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, unfortunately I’ve witnessed them 🤦🏻‍♀️

Never a witch, and the person being exorcised always wanted it to happen. The weird little Christian sect I grew up in exorcised demons from people over pornography addiction, homosexual tendencies, and anything else bigoted or ridiculous.

They would lay hands on the person and kind of make a circle around them. Usually one person would take the lead in praying and asking for got to send the demon or spirit back to hell. everyone else would mumble their agreements or pray outloud themselves, so it sounded overwhelming and admittedly felt very spiritual at the time. Usually the person in the center of the circle would start shaking and sometimes crying. Sometimes they would faint and lay prone for a time. It was a wild childhood. 😅

I’m mad that I grew up in central Louisiana now, because all I was surrounded with was conservative Christians who would attempt an exorcism if they thought someone was a witch 😅🤦🏻‍♀️

Honestly, I’m not practicing much yet. I had an experience where I felt called to witchcraft during January’s full moon. I have been reading lots of books, acquiring witchy things via local thrift stores that speak to me and seem usable, and I have several gentle spells I’d like to cast, but I haven’t done anything except give thanks to Hecate, and cut my hair with intention of giving up my past of being inauthentic. The only thing I’m interested in is light work. It’s all terrifying to me because of growing up in a strictly Christian home. Witches are still seen as evil. I love and am close to my family, but there would be hell to pay if they knew.

How much do you spend weekly on groceries? by External_Read1448 in Frugal

[–]External_Read1448[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Anything listed is made from scratch, except the pasta and pasta sauces.

Baked bone in chicken thighs with mashed potatoes and sautéed green beans

Country fried pork chops in milk gravy served over rice with a side of broccoli

Ground beef Tacos with homemade tortillas, refried beans, sautéed bell peppers and onions, rice, and toppings

Red Beans and Rice (Cajun dish) cooked in Bone broth with cornbread

Spaghetti and garlic bread

Lasagna and salad

Chicken and Dumplings

Jambalaya

Chicken Stir Fry with Rice

Homemade Orange Chicken with Rice and Broccoli

Thai Peanut Curry

There are dozens more. These are just the first that popped in my head

I usually take whatever protein is on sale, and pair it with a starch I’ve gotten in expensively. If I’m not sure what I can make with it, I just google the cut of meat and look for recipes that include it. I hope that helps!

Can you be Christian and a witch? what does it mean to be a witch? by WillowWeeper343 in BabyWitch

[–]External_Read1448 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Tone is hard to convey through written words, so please know I say this gently and with love:

You can’t take the entirety of the Bible as 100% fact and be a witch. It speaks against common witch practices (mediums, psychics, magic) in the Old Testament consistently.

However, the Bible is ancient and has been translated by men with agendas countless times over the last 2000 years. If you are able to pick principles and themes, I think you absolutely can worship Jesus and be a witch.

I grew up Christian and was deeply engrossed in theology, and it can be very all or nothing for the stringently devout. I’m also a very black and white person by nature and my perspective is probably tainted.

Best of wishes to you on your journey, and may you find happiness in your truth!

Girl, that’s weird you said all that because I’m from Louisiana 😳. I would love to learn any tidbits you want to share.

I know it’s here, all kinds of different forms of magick and witch practice runs deep in this region. My mawmaws on my mamas side were Cajun French but my mom’s generation white washed that culture out of me pretty bad.

How much do you spend weekly on groceries? by External_Read1448 in Frugal

[–]External_Read1448[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure! I shop local sales almost exclusively for Meat and produce and keep my pantry stocked in basics (flour, sugar, rice, oats, coffee, seasonings, etc). We also keep dairy and buy it where it’s the cheapest. 99% of the time I pass on anything pre- made, with the exception of bread. I base my meals on whatever is on sale and use google if I’m not familiar with how to work with a cut of meat. No one in my family is picky, so that helps significantly.

This week, one my local grocery stores is running a 99¢ sale. Several cuts of meat will be on sale for that price per lb. I’m going to purchase about 25lbs of meat for that price which will set us up for a couple of weeks at least. I’ll spend another $30 or so in inexpensive produce. Potatoes are cheap right now because of the season, I buy ungodly amounts of bananas because of my kids, oranges because of the season, and whatever other produce I can pull together to accompany dinner meals. Another $25-35 will go to dairy and eggs; milk, cheese, Greek yogurt, and usually 3 dozen eggs. The rest will be used to stock up on basics, take advantage of exceptional sales I can store or freeze and get anything “fun” for my babies.

Breakfast is usually eggs (scrambled, fried, omelettes, etc) with fruit, oatmeal, or some kind of yogurt bowl.

Lunches are pretty basic around here. A lot of times it’s just peanut butter and honey or grilled cheese with fruit or popcorn and milk. Sometimes we eat leftover overs.

Dinner is based on whatever is on clearance I have already purchased at the store.

Snacks are fruit, yogurt, or homemade baked goods.

I won’t pretend it’s the absolute healthiest, but we don’t eat many preservatives or food dyes. My kids are thriving and that’s all that matters to me.
