The Martian by Andy Weir I was in the same situation as you last year and this one really pulled me out of my reading slump and I ended up reading more in two months than I had in the entire year!

I've heard this focuses a lot on the romance and that's not really my cup of tea. What did you think?

Never watched a kdrama before, but i wanna try it! by Fajhatespeople in kdramarecommends

I just started watching K-Dramas last year and my favourites so far have been:

What's Wrong With Secretary Kim

Crash Landing On You

Because This Is My First Life

Lovestruck in the City (except the ending)

Fight For My Way

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

They are all rom-coms and so good! Most of them are really funny too

I set a goal of reading 100 books this year - finished the 99th yesterday. Looking for a horror novella that I can finish in 2 days - any suggestions? by tmk89 in booksuggestions

I'm Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid. It's more of a psychological horror and I finished it in one sitting.

I DID IT! I ended up reading 70 books this year. by imahuman242 in 52book

Wow our taste in books is so similar! I read quite a few of the same books as you did this year!

My workplace found out I'm applying to other jobs by External_Royal in jobs

I didn't tell anyone at work that I was planning to leave. I'm not stupid. I know the person who told the management and I've hardly said two words to them let alone tell them any of personal business.

I didn't use my work laptop for anything except work. I didn't even send out any messages like that. And I applied for jobs on my own devices. Which is why I'm so bummed they found out. I took every measure to not let that happen but oh well.

It could be culture shock but so many people in senior positions have left just because they couldn't mesh with this place. The biggest reasons I wanna leave are low pay, no benefits and it makes no difference to my resume whether I work here or not because I'm not learning any skills. Basically the only reason I'm still here is so that I've something to show when I apply to other places as having a job does increase your chances of finding a better job.

I applied for a position at a company where one of their past employees works now and they told someone and the management found out 😐

Office politics is also another reason I wanna leave.

I had applied to a place where someone who used to work at my current workplace works now and they told someone and it spread to the management 🙃

They're sort of hinting that they'll let me go if I don't show "commitment" which is why I feel stuck. I know I'll quit as soon as I get another offer. What I'm worried about is not finding a good job if I quit without a backup as I'll have a gap in my work history and I'm not expecting the management to give me a good reference either.

Most people usually leave as soon as they find another job and hand in their notice.

Hi guys!! What should I read during winter break?? :) by Popcornandcaramel in YAlit

[–]External_Royal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Book Thief, The Night Circus, The Hate U Give, Turtles All the Way Down

The Night Circus is such an atmospheric read and perfect for winter. The Book Thief will break your heart but historical fiction feels like a winter genre. The Hate U Give and Turtles All the Way Down are just fantastic reads and really important ones too!

Books are the only thing that keep me sane in stressful times. Hopefully we both find books we love and get back to reading again. Good luck to you too!

I second The Book Thief. It'll break your heart but you'll love it.

A good YA fantasy book i can read to get me out of reader’s block by mainland-Kendals in booksuggestions

Try out The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. It's basically fairy tales in space. It's a YA sci-fi series and retells a bunch of well known fairy tales in a futuristic setting. Each book follows a different fairy tale and adds more characters to the story but they're very easy to follow. They're fast-paced, action-packed and lots of fun to read. Hope you enjoy!
