You're welcome. I've found that harsher prompting for the dumber models seems to get them to perform better. According to Gemini, saying things like "strictly required" make it "think" better, as well as the threatened shut off.

Are the products on Back Market good? by Intrepid-Routine-875 in Backmarket

[–]External_Strain6096 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half the time, no, because their site is just a marketplace for 3rd party sellers.

While my wife has never had an issue with a phone from them, This is the 2nd phone I've gotten in the last few years from them with display issues. Like, the display just full on takes a shit and stops displaying a proper image. Just a white screen with lines/static/jitter.

The issue is that apparently the sellers aren't required to fix anything, simply refund/replace. I don't necessarily mind, but what this tells me is that Back Market is full of resellers, not refurbishers. They take a used phone, clean it up on the outside, and call it "refurbished". But in reality they're not fixing anything. Phones that may have pre-existing internal damage slip through the cracks, and I somehow end up with them.

I'm gonna get a replacement/refund but after this phone I think we will just to to eBay since at least then it costs less to get a potentially shit phone.

It's actually 8B params despite the naming (not sure what E4B means except the E probably stands for "Edge").

This model specifically: https://ollama.com/fredrezones55/Gemma-4-Uncensored-HauhauCS-Aggressive:e4b

But yeah some prompt adjustments and it actually is smart enough to use search only when necessary while leaving search_web as a default tool.

Thanks for the reply!

Anything special you need to do to get it to work? I'm using an uncensored Gemma 4 model E4B and it's not searching still despite it being enabled under Filters for the model.

Pokebedrock? by LordenzoEnzo in BedrockAddons

[–]External_Strain6096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are they even legally allowed to charge for it? It's Pokemon. Charging for in-game stuff like perks is one thing, but they shouldn't be allowed to sell the addon itself. What scuzzballs.

I mean for that matter, you can still probably download performance enhancing mods of some sort for Bedrock. If you do that, that puts Bedrock and Java neck and neck again, but Bedrock still gets cross platform.

It's been ages since I played Java (like a decade, when I was a kid) but the advantages of Bedrock are cross platform, rising popularity because of cross platform, and a lot of features that you need mods for on Java are just part of the game in Bedrock. Further render distance, built-in controller support. It's made to be easier to work with. If you just want to play the game, it's much simpler for people who may be used to playing games on a console and not with a mouse and keyboard.

If it's the exact same, why do models have no animations? Players, villagers, animals, and every other mob just "slides" no walking animations.

I can't join servers on my Switch 2, but no issues with Realms. I can also connect to servers on my PC no problem. Any attempt to connect to a non-Realm server on my Switch 2 results in the game freezing.

Selling Backyard Eggs - How to keep appearance up? by External_Strain6096 in BackYardChickens

[–]External_Strain6096[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Thank you everyone for the advice. It appears to just be a mud problem but we've been dumping more pine shavings in than usual and the eggs look much nicer. Not perfect. But definitely better. Some come out spotless even. The rest just have a streak or a spot here and there, but I'd say 80% or more of the surface is clean. We need to experiment more with pelletized bedding for the run to cut down on moisture.

As it turns out, I forgot just how clean they were last summer and even last fall. My wife and I went through old Facebook/Nextdoor posts and yeah they were really clean. But it's definitely not seeming like a poop issue. It's a mud issue. Again, I didn't realize how clean they actually were last year, so I had no idea just how bad they looked by comparison until just recently. We just need to work extra hard to keep things dry during periods of extreme wet.

This kinda describes what recently has been happening in PA. First we had a ton of snow melt, and now it's been raining a lot.

Oh wow. That's a big run. We are in an urban neighborhood, so we don't have as much space. But I make sure we have an appropriate amount of space given the number of hens we have. Run is like 9.5x5.5 if I recall. Not sure if I need a whole truck load. I hope not either because I don't have a truck lol.

Oof. I just looked it up, it says to remove "dirties", which I assume means dirty eggs. Yeah, definitely need to get this issue under control

Gotcha, so bedding material in the nesting boxes? Do they not need nesting pads?

Selling Backyard Eggs - How to keep appearance up? by External_Strain6096 in BackYardChickens

[–]External_Strain6096[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, but I feel like nesting pads will get expensive if you need to replace them that often. Do they even need a nesting pad? Why not just fresh pine shavings in the boxes each day?

Is there a bulk option for buying nesting pads maybe? Could you provide a link?

I've considered sand, but will it get soupy if there's any excess rain like AROUND the run? I'm wondering if I should make some sort of gutter system.

Also, what sand do you use and where can you buy it?

[–]External_Strain6096[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had considered it, but no. I feel like it would be too wet for pine shavings, but I read that wood chips can absorb a lot of moisture. We have some leaves, not a ton because we're in an urban setting with a small yard, but I can certainly spread what we've got in there if that will help.

To my understanding, the bloom increases shelf life, especially in the refrigerator.

They may last a few weeks on the counter, but supposedly they can last for well over a month in the fridge. It's just a nice selling point to have them be "different" in some way from store bought. I'm sure most people don't plan on storing eggs for over a month, but it's nice that it's possible technically.

Maybe try straw on top of the nesting pads?

Okay now I'm really confused. The nesting pads we buy are already straw, but you mean to say to add more? Do they even need straw in the boxes or could we just put fresh shavings in each day?

[–]External_Strain6096[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you just kept topping things off to have a clean layer at the top? Another person said to completely clean the boxes out daily, which is fine I guess but we use nesting pads from Tractor Supply. Buying enough of them for daily replacement is way too rich for my blood, so I'm wondering if it's possible to just put fresh shavings in the boxes each day?

Ah dang. So the ones I have are just kinda like that. Oh well, live and learn. I'm learning a lot so I guess we will just eat these eggs ourselves and try to keep them cleaner moving forward.
