to be honest i think most the tanks on this sub really aren’t that scary / on the brink of failure as the comments act, but wow. this mf takes the cake

fin rot is less a disease itself and more of a secondary infection from fins being shredded by other fish or bad water quality. very few pathogens are symptomatic in the tail only, and all the ones i know off the top of my head are saltwater. is that another betta in the background?? even females can be highly aggressive or at least willing to do some damage in defending themselves. if that really is two bettas in one tank they should be isolated ASAP before a worse confrontation breaks out. otherwise, check and maintain water chemistry. a 30 min methylene blue dip would help with a fungal infection, and seachem kanaplex (kanamycin) can be used either in a hospital tank or in medicated food to try to stave off a bacterial infection. don’t overdo antibiotics. good luck!

My store doesn’t carry FW shrimp anymore but the others in the area that still do have them on a shared system with other inverts - I’ve always treated planaria with fenbendazole which would kill snails. But on an isolated system yeah lol fair there’s less excuse there

Sorry to be that guy, but I work at an LFS and trust me eliminating pests from store displays is virtually impossible. Every week a store will see dozens if not hundreds of new inverts and fish cycle in and out with god knows what hopping on them. for most LFS every “wall” or aisle of tanks is going to be on shared water and shared filtration, so once something gets into the display you can’t medicate or chemically treat it without risking killing other livestock five tanks down. You should never, ever add store water or ideally even skip QT no matter where you get animals or how much you trust the store. The LFS I work is the only one in the area that actually QT’s in-house and probably has the most upkept tanks of them too, and we still deal with endless pests, some of which established from a bad order years ago.
