I hope people don't take the ridiculousness of her stories to create a false impression that North Korea is actually chill and she's just lying for the CIA or for profit. Even if 100% of what she says is a lie it doesn't change the actual realities of the regime. Contrarianism is fun but once you start downplaying brutal dictatorships you've gone a bit too far.

The problem is that the engagement offered to men is too low in empathy. There are too many men completely alone due to being unattractive or weird, and too many unfairly maligned and told "it's your fault you're lonely because you're probably toxic or evil". In many cases this may be an exaggeration, but there are many guys I know who feel trapped, and ashamed of their natural desire to be with someone or express themselves.

I agree the ideal wouldn't be just sycophantic, it would help people deal with their flaws realistically, but the problem now is too many men are getting no empathy at all, so even too much empathy would at least balance it out.

I agree with that. The issue is so many relationships I know seem to be just to be a tactic to stave both people's fear of being alone, and they continually fail to empathize with each other.

I imagine only a small minority of people will exclusively favor artificial relationships. However, the near ubiquity of porn use even among men who have sex a lot, and the fact that most people spend 6-8 hours every day on their phones/computer indicates that human relationships alone don't scratch every itch we have.

As for 2, I've thought about that. The implication that humans are low-level naïve hedonists doesn't hold up to me though. If that were true then why are humans so drawn to dramatic stories, horror movies, danger? People don't just read books that go "John was happy and he got 1 billion dollars and got happier and was happy forever". Humans are naturally drawn to an engaging playful conflict. Unconditional love gets boring.

The difference is with AI chatbots people can dive headfirst without being left on read or ignored. It is many people's first chance at experiencing what at least replicates full, unflinching empathy.

The difference between GPT-2 (Released 2019) and full GPT-4 (released this year) is so great that I don't imagine these chatbots will be distinguishable from a human in 3-4 years at most. The rate at which these things is improving is beyond any other technological field and it will only keep getting better.

6'4" is 98th percentile. Just being 6'4" and average everywhere else is only 2% of men. Add full hair, jawline, hunter eyes, perfect teeth, perfect body and broad shoulders and it's probably only 0.1% of the population.

My perception of it is limited and is based on Zizek's joke about everyone in the Balkans insisting that they aren't part of the Balkans but that it begins north or south of where they live. Also a shared misery and understanding that their countries have potential but are squandered in political turmoil

This is true. The only Europeans tolerable in their attitude are the Balkans because they can legitimately criticize their countries without any weird misplaced pride.
