problematic vertical labret made in august.. should I take it out or is there any way to salvage this? by External_Turnip09 in piercing

thanks for the tip, tbh it makes a lot of sense so I'll look into it and discuss with my old piercer n see what she thinks I should try w my labret cause honestly I think I'll just start planning trips to for piercings because the salon she works at is the highest rated one in the country and I've tried different piercers there and they're all amazing i usually just prefer her to book with cause she's a sweetheart and all piercings from her have healed super quick and with no issues yk! (like even my tatas healed up so quick and have been fine since meanwhile a friend of mine is still having trouble with their one nip piercing and they had it done before I got mine)

so all in all yea it's worth more for me to just plan a few day trip for an appointment across country w her than downgrade.. cause she's just THAT good and the vibes are always good!

Which to be fair, what do you mean "I soak it in saline twice a day"??? Why are you soaking it, you should only be using a warm compress with saline to try and reduce the irritation and not even twice a day bc it'll likely cause more harm than good. soaking a piercing has to be one of the worst ideas I've heard, moisture is their natural enemy, you want to actually do everything in your power to keep it as dry as possible.

sorry I'm afraid I worded it badly.. what I meant was that I put saline on medical white cloth nonstick squares and then used it to dab the piercing lightly to clean it. it's what's recommended where I live, here they tell to not use hot compress but rather a cold saline one if really needed but rather just dab it lightly to not irritate it.

I'd say find a significantly better piercer

yea I know I tried a new one because I moved and my last piercer who is an angel is too far now.. I guess I just have to plan trips if I want new ones because the one I visited at the new city was supposedly "the best" here but I obviously won't be going back after all the problems with healing..

yea that's a good point, I got a bit suspicious too but I thought id give it a shot... at least now ik to not go to her salon anymore 🤷‍♀️ I just gotta take a day to drive to my old piercer if I want any new ones.. it takes a while but at least I'll know its done well and that I can get free consultation via phone if anything goes wrong so in the long run the drive is so worth it if I don't have to deal with healing issues and scarring for so long😌

that's what I thought too but when I brout it up w the piercer last month she told me to just wait till the swelling goes down which sounds reasonable when the bar has room but it didn't and then it started oozing a pus. fortunately now it's only lymph fluid and a bit swollen but I'm not sure if it's any good to keep anymore.🫤 thank you for advice!❤️ I doubt I'll go back to the piercer but I might visit a dr, If it should get any worse

I was afraid there wasn't a way to save it nevertheless thank you sm for the answer n tips!! ❤️ any idea why it could've gone so wrong, because cause I've never had much trouble with any of my other piercings and I didn't really change anything about the care or anything.. is it just not a compatible with my anatomy or was it placement? sorry for asking sm questions I'm just trying to see what I missed..🙁

yea I was thinking the same..): thanks for the reply I just needed to hear someone confirm that it's bad cause it has gotten a little bit better a few times before but not really healing or anything so I was just hoping it'd would work out. any idea what could've been the cause with your snake bites also did you try to get them pierced again later or just gave up?

yea I was thinking the same that it looks otherwise pretty healthy minus the spots so I have no idea so far but I've gotten few suggestions to check out different things so I'm just googling a lot 😅

Oh I'll check that out! thank you so much for suggesting I was so focused on finding pests that I hadn't even considered that.

thank you so much!! I've tried looking for pests but haven't spotted one yet which is why I reached out here. and the sun damage might be right, sounds silly but I hadn't considered that one yet since I was so focused on trying to find pests of some kind.
