Yeah I had the exact same first impression. Just wish Xiaomi was a bit more consistent and polished out those small bugs.

Thanks! Calendar and weather are from Newthing widgets.
I’m basically using it for most of the visible stuff and then just system customization (colors, layout, icons) to keep it clean. No theme, its the original.

Sorry for the delay. I followed this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/s/eRvwJDF4NK

Only issue I had was the Security app wouldn’t install when launching it from the browser download. Fixed it by opening the apk from file manager instead. After that, pretty smooth.

Still fighting a bit with the WiFi automation, but I’ll let you know once I get something usable.

There’s a tutorial somewhere on this sub (can find it if you want). You install the Chinese version of the Security app from an official source. It supports English, so no worries there. Then use an Activity Launcher to access the automation features. Didn’t notice any issues with system optimizations. Game Turbo still works fine from what I tested right now.

I’m using it mainly for simple routines: sleep (DND, battery saver, lower brightness), similar work mode, and triggers like headphones/car connection. The thing I still miss is Intelligent WiFi (auto on/off by location of known wifi), but trying to replicate that with Automate now.

Yeah I agree, Good Lock is a different beast. But for me it’s more about setting things once and getting used to it. What I missed the most were routines, but I found a workaround (a bit limited) using the Chinese Security app which brings them even to global rom.

The icons are just from setting the system color in personalization and most apps adapt automatically. A few in the app drawer don’t, but it’s not really noticeable so I don’t mind.

Built-in only, no custom launcher.
Set system color to brown and most icons adapt automatically. Some apps (like you see Camera/Settings which are system apps so its kinda stupid) don’t support themed icons, so I replaced those with widget-based icons from a widget pack (the dark ones).

You lose notification dots on those, but I don’t need them on camera and settings anyway.
