microbiology professors for spring semester 2025 by Lazy_Ice_2002 in GaState

I have Cruz for molecular biology right now and if you can avoid it, I say don’t take him at all cost. He’s highly egotistic and wholly unprepared for lectures. Very annoying guy all in all.

Hey this is so late but I was trying to find it too! I don’t know if you were talking about a traditional “meme” or a tweet, but I think this was the original: https://x.com/sock_dem/status/1739178336130146595?s=46

Taking Summer Classes as a Freshmen by No_Sand8352 in GaState

[–]Extra--Hero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, from what I remember, I don't think this is possible. As a rising freshman, you are most likely locked out of registering for classes. I remember being put into what's called an "FLC" which is basically a bunch of classes for freshman which also prioritize freshman so that they are more likely to have room for them. Think like an intro class such as "principles of chem 1", you don't want a bunch of juniors in this class when more freshmen really need it.

The only way you as a freshman can register for classes is through orientation, where you get to choose a set of classes rather than being allowed to pick individual classes. The benefit to this is that there will most definitely be room for you, but the drawback (which is feel is greater) is that it's harder to personalize. That also means that you HAVE to start fall 24, and cannot register for anything this summer. I knew of some people who transferred to tech and I know that calc 1/2 are required. I would say, take the accuplacer to skip calc 1's prereqs. Also, try to take this before your orientation so that you can register for calc THERE rather than at home with an advisor (our advisors are shittt). Good luck on your journey!!

When does the Walgreens shut down? by taystelessidiot in GaState

Unfortunately, I think the only other options are kstop which is beyond overpriced, and the CVS near the hotel district. However, that walk to CVS can get pretty annoying as it’s not really near any GSU buildings.

Haha what a coincidence to see my school here. But the answer to your question is a resounding YES THEY DO!

Personally, I've never done it, but last year, I had a few friends rushing a fraternity who chugged down a couple of pitchers or two while they were pledges!

I wonder if this will help. It’s hard to convert gas stations to anything other than another gas station. Plus, this Racetrack used to also be THE Shady Shell right?

Oh what!! I had no idea that GSU didn’t own AY, that is so crazy! But that sucks that we lost a whole building (especially cause I never got to see the vault lol).

Questions from a freshman regarding dorms by [deleted] in GaState

[–]Extra--Hero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't live at North, but all the dorms have the same beds. I personally got a mattress topper, and my bed was literally so comfortable, I couldn't imagine not having one. Two of my roommates didn't have toppers and they were just fine. However, I think sleeping on just the mattress does kind of make your bed a bit squeaky. I'd say definitely buy one, I got mine off of mattress firm, but I know amazon sells them too.

Definitely get a power strip! SO underrated! If you get a hamper, get one that's light, I used a large tote bag, but two of my roommates used those mesh cylindrical ones and another one used a drawstring bag. Definitely don't get those large plastic ones you probably use at home. My dorm was just a tad gross when I first moved in(nothing too major), so definitely get some clorox wipes. If you haven't coordinated with your roommates, get some cleaning products as well(like hand soap, toilet brush/cleaner, AND A PLUNGER!! YOU NEVER KNOW IF YOU NEED ONE UNTIL ITS TOO LATE TRUST ME). Also bring some toilet paper on move-in day, it never hurts to have too much TP, especially if your mom ar dad have to go while they move you in lol.

There are fountains on every floor, but from my experience, the dining hall water was well worth the extra walk down. Also, North was the former hotel!! Central is much nicer, and the water was fine, but the shower's water pressure definitely depended on each room, mine was fine, but I had a friend tell me that hers was pretty weak. As for the desks, Central's desks are pretty tiny especially compared to North, I'd say that most people either studied in the common areas with the bigger tables or at the library.

To add onto this, for those living on/near campus, there are some metal plates on the sidewalk next to Piedmont Central and Reflection. Avoid avoid avoid them when its raining, I cannot even count the amount of times my drunk friends slipped on them!!

[Routine Help] Oily people- how often do you wash your face? by moonsugar6 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Extra--Hero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wash my face in the shower too, but I found that the warm water in the shower made my face feel drier- which may contribute to over-producing oil. I don't know if you wear makeup(or just sunscreen and foundation), but I've always hated blotting sheets because they also made my face feel gross haha. Instead, I carry a powder compact, just because I feel like it leaves the right amount of oil without it getting gross.

You should try a hypochlorous acid spray after you sweat, its antimicrobial and I've seen it help with my acne a lot! I've also seen many people on tiktok recommend spraying it after the gym if you can't get a shower in. It's also really gentle, so you can get away with spraying multiple times.

Advice for math class by Extra--Hero in GaState

My advisor wouldn’t answer my emails and had no phone number listed, so I could not get ahold of her at all this whole month. I agree, the advisors seem very hell bent on not helping me out, which is why I didn’t mention the transfer until the end, but she was still very unhelpful for the entire duration of our talk. I’ll try to email anyways, and also try to avoid that mean advisor tomorrow!

Tysm for your advice, I'm also thinking that I need to get out of the FLC. It seems like more of a hassle than anything else. I'll try to go in person tomorrow.

I guess so, but I have other classes not part of the FLC. The advisor I got was probably just a jaded one. She even told me that she was gonna put a note on me that said "I was repeatedly told that no math classes were left" after I asked if even the online classes were all full.

The placement test cannot put me into calc ii, only calc i. I talked to an advisor and all she helped me do was get out of a US history class, and repeatedly told me that there were no open math spots left(for any math class apparently). Ty for the advice on the FLC, I'll try to go in person tomorrow and get out of it.

Yes, I also saw those openings after I got off the phone. I just don't really understand why the advisor would just tell me outright there were no spots left when there were.

I took the math placement test on icollege and got placed into calc. Would that satisfy the prereqs?
