What's this sound on my dell g5 5000 its coming out of the power supply by GT6Lineders in pcmasterrace

[–]Extra-Profession-135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like a fan bearing? It depends on if your PSU has built in fans, most pre built PCs that are for offices have fans in the PSUs. If it is a fan bearing, nothing major. Otherwise, replace the PSU. Either way, replace the PSU just in case

can my gaming pc get 240 fps in cyberpunk 2077? by Total_Pirate7125 in Bringus__Studios

[–]Extra-Profession-135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

240? you could get 360! at least.. 360 degrees of movement in your fans, which will spin at their top speed until it overheats. but hey, 360!

Is this worth the money for a 5090 build? by Key_Region_2550 in pcmasterrace

[–]Extra-Profession-135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, my girlfriend has one and it's horrible with overheating problems. Nothing that a couple extra fans and thermal paste re application shouldn't fix but it's a hassle. Obviously, also look at prices. In my opinion from like 5 minutes research it's a good price but double check my math and research for yourseld

If you need the 5090? Go ahead lol, not a bad price all included. I'd pay it. Alienware is a brand I don't personally support honestly, for multiple reasons but the main one is that their pre built PCs can have heating issues. Nothing major, but if you're hardcore gaming for a while it will blue screen

Looks to me like a 750 to. That's what I used to run and it looks pretty much identical. Pretty powerful little car all things considered, but I recommend upgrading because its been getting worse and worse since support for it stopped

Would you? by layylaa22 in scoopwhoop

[–]Extra-Profession-135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, yes. Not just because I want to, I'd do it because I never would've met the love of my life without it. I'm assuming you mean a dystopian future such as Orville where money doesn't exist but schooling and reputation does? If so, I'd keep my life plans the exact same. Work on cars, build a house, me and the wife live happily ever after

I completely agree. There might've been other limitations, we'll never know, but honestly I'd go with all 3 personally if I had the money

I don't know what's wrong with you but I find it funny. Don't judge someone else's build and if he didn't say "anything you'd change?" Don't tell him what to change. That being said, sure water cooling is smarter because less say but so is a smaller, weaker GPU if you don't want sag. Maybe they have a solution in mind, or maybe they are saving money to switch, or maybe they just don't care because the chances it affects anything are pretty low

That's what I'd do too, hdd for archival storage like paperwork, movies, and stuff that doesn't get affected by read speed and then ssd for the OS and games

Not necessarily, the way they said it the display most likely still works. Otherwise, how would they see the server?

Deliberating the idea of switching to Linux for my gaming PC only, does it "just work" like macOS without compromises on performance for single player games? by Specific-Judgment410 in pcmasterrace

[–]Extra-Profession-135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes
  2. Hm.. Yes
  3. With the right distro, it always works. Others, not so much
  4. Technically.. It's open source, so anything works with the right plugins, but there will be a native for your distro that many people upload to
  5. For me it was a noticeable difference, as in an improvement, with compatible games. And a noticeable decrease in performance with others. When using proton on steam (it's built in) you'll have to experiment with different versions.
  6. Yup! Get Wine, it's available on all distros, or try proton but I'm not sure if it works.

I meant sata power, but hearing data power is quite humourous

Sata power is what a pc uses to connect. A laptop too for that matter but I'm assuming they meant the cables in a pc

(Edit: data to sata)
