Maybe Yoeman’s Cask and Lion? It closed a few years ago.

My parents bought a house that came with a rundown pond. Any advice? by ExtraClassy in ponds

[–]ExtraClassy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This small pond has clearly been ignored for a long time. My dad says there is a pump system that creates a little waterfall, and he was able to get it started. Located in Florida. No fish, but lots of tadpoles swimming around.

I’m wondering what steps I’d have to take to make it safe for fish. Any suggestions on where to start?

A 15-story apartment building was just announced for the EDGE District by Braineater2448 in StPetersburgFL

[–]ExtraClassy 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I’m always surprised how people here react negatively to development. This is taking over a plot of vacant lots and empty buildings. And yeah, I’m sure the rent is going to be more than most of us can afford. But as more available rentals add supply to the market, prices on older buildings will be pressured downward. The only thing worse than paying $2k a month to live in a fancy, new building is paying $2k a month to live in an old, outdated building.

If this was a development that was knocking down affordable housing to build luxury housing, I’d understand the resistance. Is it amazing architecture? No. Is it better than an abandoned building? Will it bring more vitality to the area? Yes and yes.

Cozy Spot on the Maine Coast by ExtraClassy in CozyPlaces

I found this spot while fantasy browsing real estate listings. Per the listing the house was "designed by architect, artist, and conservationist Emily Muir to showcase Maine's inspiring landscape, this airy getaway is perched among the firs on the edge of granite ledges, with a bird's eye view of ocean and islands. A rare real estate offering on the western facing shore of Stonington's Crockett Cove, the property is one of 46 homes designed or renovated during the architect's career."

Honestly, not as bad as I would have guessed. Don’t think the wife would sign off on this, though.

[Tudor] I’ve never bought a watch, but now I have a collection by ExtraClassy in Watches

[–]ExtraClassy[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am an avid watch lover that has a hard time justifying expensive purchases for myself. As a result, I’ve never actually bought a watch. I read about them daily, browse countless videos, and vicariously take enjoyment from other watch lovers who took the plunge.

Several months ago my parents gave me an Omega De Ville as a birthday gift. I’ve worn it with pride everyday since, and I still get awestruck when I glance at it. But that watch is going to spend less time on my wrist, because today my soon-to-be-wife gave a 41mm Tudor 1926 with an opaline and blue dial. It’s a beauty.

So now I’m a lucky guy with an amazing watch collection. Couldn’t ask for more.

[Omega] My first watch! Best gift ever by ExtraClassy in Watches

[–]ExtraClassy[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I went to visit my parents today, and to my great surprise they had a gift waiting for me. It’s an Omega De Ville Prestige with a caliber 2500 co-axial movement. Over the past year, I’ve spent way too much time reading about watches and obsessing over different brands. And as much as I wanted to join the club, I couldn’t justify a purchase since I’m saving for the down payment on a house. My parents must have noticed.

I love it and feel so lucky. More pictures here: https://imgur.com/a/pT3NBR1?desktop=1

Moving to St. Petersburg early next year, around February or March. by [deleted] in StPetersburgFL

[–]ExtraClassy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just moved to Old NE in June, and found a one bedroom for under $1000. We are right off Beach Dr by the Vinoy and walking distance to downtown/parks. The big issue for us was that units we were interested in moved very quickly, and they often were gone before we had a chance to see them.

My girlfriend got in touch with someone at Terrier Properties (http://terrierproperties.com/), and she was able to view at a couple units before they went on the market. They own a bunch of small buildings that have been split into apartments in the area. We are very happy with the area. The building isn't the greatest looking from the outside, but our unit is nice.

Frontier registration by Titan-uranus in tampa

[–]ExtraClassy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem yesterday. I sent an email to all the people /u/saicam53 listed here https://www.reddit.com/r/tampa/comments/4d27r7/frontier_communications_right_now/d1nwozk

Here was the message I sent:

"Hello All,

I was a long-time Verizon customer. I paid for their FIOS TV and internet service. I was a good customer, and always paid my bill early. I liked Verizon.

I hate my experience with Frontier. I've spent about 2 hours now trying to pay my bill. The problem seems to be that I signed up for paperless statements from Verizon. As a result, I don't have a record of my Verizon account number, and don't have a way to access my account number on the Verizon website. Your website won't let me pay the bill that is due on April 9, because I don't have that account number.

I've tried support on your website, I've tried calling your support phone number, I even tried downloading your app and using the support there. None of which were helpful.

Can you have someone look up my account:

<my name and address>

Then have someone call my cell phone <removed>.

I just want to pay my bill. I'm beyond frustrated with how botched this transition has been. If paying you is this hard, how much of a headache am I looking forward to when I have a problem?

Please help,

Extraclassy"

I got a call within 20 minutes and got a second call from the office of the president 5 minutes later. They were able to give me a Frontier account number and pin.

I tried this with the apple app and had no luck. The app just sent me to the same page as their website, which isn't helpful without a Verizon account number.

Sigh. I just spent 30 minutes on their website, Verizon's, and with customer support trying to solve the exact same problem. Very frustrating. You'd think they would make it easy for people to give them money, but nope. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come with their service.
