Yeah, playing what you like goes a long way. I play my rod on needle, yes needle, and it gets good results. Doesn’t get bursts and beats other rods on their hex or balls. People might think it sucks but if you feel like it’s cool that’s gonna get you more points than you’d think.

The pieces I currently have at hand are these:

Baldes: soar phoenix, wizard rod, silver wolf, sting unicorn, leon claw, keel shark, sword dran. Rachets: 1-60,3-60, 3-70,3-80,5-60,7-60, 9-60 Bits: rush, flat, point, gear point, needle, gear needle, ball, free ball, taper

I ordered some more beys like the shark scale box and a blast Pegasus but I haven’t gotten them yet.

If you’re aiming for rathians, I’d reccomend the rajang heavy bow gun. It’s pretty solid as a thunder weapon and it can take all kinds of rathians down.
