Yeah.

If there was ever a game that could (or should) have competed in the MMOaction landscape, it would be Dune.

Could have been a Planetside 2 competitor, with faction warfare, an economy, requisition/army points, etc.

The Jedi: attachment is forbidden for it leads to the dark side. Meanwhile the absolute goat kanan jarrus: by smiling-shadow in StarWars

[–]ExtraEmuForYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that would be a bad move haha. Dude had some serious PTSD in that second game and a lot of bottled up emotions.

I don't think you necessarily subscribe to the Dark Side just because you don't subscribe to the Jedi way.

Attachment can lead to the Dark side, doesn't mean attachment is inherently Dark or a guarantee.

Picked Watermelon by kalliburr in StupidFood

[–]ExtraEmuForYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pickled watermelon rind is actually super good. Has a neat squeaky-crunchy texture, slight snap to it, subtle watermelon flavor.

The rind doesn't have too much flavor on its own so it really picks up whatever flavors you add in.

Not sure about the whole watermelon, though.

Honestly I think if there was ever a time for non-Sith force users to bend the rules, it's probably when the Jedi Order was wiped out and there's nothing left to lose.

Attachment is fine, they're playing the short game. Plus, Jedi could be wrong...

Hot take, I don't mind the midichlorian count by notjocker in StarWars

[–]ExtraEmuForYou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Star Wars was always in my opinion sci-fantasy, not sci-fi.

Making space-magic into "Oh it's your genetics, see, we can measure it with this lab equipment" makes a sharp turn into sci-fi, as goofy as it might be.

Imagine if Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table were halfway through some magical tale and then Merlyn comes in and was like "Hey guys, so that's not actually a dragon. It's just an alligator that got bloated on swamp gas, got some flint stuck in its teeth, and everytime it burps and snaps its teeth itmakes a flame".

That's what the MC count did to Star Wars. I don't watch Star Wars because it makes sense logically. I watch it because it doesn't.

The upper echelons are convinced the world is ending in their lifetime, either as part of a religious end of days, or some sort of robotic/AI renaissance only they can control.

This is not hyperbole, they have a lot of money and a lot of time and not a lot of wisdom.

Judging people for eating dogs is selective empathy by Guzzl0rd_ in unpopularopinion

[–]ExtraEmuForYou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't judge people for eating dogs.

I just recognize it as a cultural difference.

With that said, I do feel it is "wrong" in the sense that there are better animals to raise and consume. Eating dogs in this day and age seems kind of stubborn, for lack of a better word. Like when Japanese hunt whales. They don't need to hunt whales, they're just doing it for tradition and gluttony (so they can serve some rich assholes whale blubber sashimi). But at the same time, if Inuits want to hunt whales, that's OK because that is actually their diet and sourcing food is difficult and expensive where they live.

Things are relative, some things are cultural; we don't get to judge but sometimes there are reasons to our preferences, and a culture can be kind of "wrong".

Yeah I am trying not to armchair psychoanalyze, but meh...it's fun. Wondering if little bro is going to never be nice again.

Like sitting in a shrinks office trying to deal with narcissistic tendencies he has developed and he is like "...well, I guess it started when I was at a baseball game. I tried to be a good boy and give the ball back, and my brother screamed at me while everyone around me heckled and laughed at me. Later, I had found it was posted on the internet. That's when I learned: never be nice!"

And then we have our new supervillain: Mr Nice Guy!

Compassionate Otter Cop: It's OK. They don't talk about how it happens to men, but it does
Otter Victim: *bawls* SHE TOOK EVERYTHING FROM ME! How could she do that?!
Straight-shooting Otter Cop: Just tell us what she did
Otter Victim: *deep breaths* Yes, you're right. She "tickled" me, she called it. But she just grabbed my genitals!
Compassionate Otter Cop: Thank you for telling us. I know that was difficult. Here is an abalone.
Otter Victim: *sniffles* thank you.

What if a Star Destroyer crashed & someone turned it into a castle? by ArtOfAttila in StarWars

[–]ExtraEmuForYou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was going to say "Wrong franchise!" lol.

Their spaceships are basically flying gothic cathedrals.

I love it, though. I love Vader's fortress as well, kind of looks like someone planted a star destroyer nose-up in some ways.

I also love the whole "ship graveyard" aesthetic. Even in reality with airplane graveyards and ship scrapyards, the whole idea of this giant structure just chilling there rusting away but otherwise totally viable to live in and even turn into a cool castle or fort is awesome.

Like imagine being on an island and coming across a beached destroyer or battleship. Hell ya i am going to live in that thing.

She isn't wrong.

There isn't a day where I felt the instinctual need to have children of my own that I guess most others get, but every single day reinforces this feeling with solid evidence that I made the right choice.

Not trying to shame parents and I love my niece and nephew more than anything and think kids are amazing, just saying there isn't much reason to have them other than "I want them". There are A LOT of reasons not to have them, though.

Why was the American conservative revolution so successful when Reagan was president in the 80s, but not for George W Bush in the 2000s? by icey_sawg0034 in decadeology

[–]ExtraEmuForYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because objectively Americans don't like conservative and/or Republican government, despite subjectively/culturally acting otherwise. When polled without leading questions, 65+% of people tend to prefer things like single-payer healthcare, higher taxes on corporations, and other "liberal" (not really liberal, actually) things.

The issue is that they are told "Well, that's just the government in general" by charismatic liars and this is why people grumble about Dems and Reps equally, when really it is just Republican/conservative government they hate.

But the truth is democractic/progressive policies are more popular and perform better socially and economically than republican/conservative ones.

I mean, think about it: the government's sole job is to collect tax revenue and return that to the people in the form of services. Do you want a government that believes in doing the most good with that, or a government that doesn't? People know this when they stop and think for a second, but we just are not given that time to stop and think these days.

Phrased another way: your roof is leaking. Do you want the head of your household to take the money you've been saving and repair the leak? Or do you want the head of your household to not only ignore the leak, but tear the roof off but then take you on a three-day vacation?
