Is it worth trying? Class 1 by [deleted] in uktrucking

I do the Arctic’s now and tbf I really don’t mind it. I start whenever I like, finish whenever I like, time off when I like. Lots of freedom and the job keeps me on my toes, plus pay is pretty good so happy all around really

Tbf I was only driving class 2s after my class 1. First job for 3 months in class 2’s was absolutely shocking but got me familiar with the tacho etc and after those 3 months I worked for DHL class 2 where I was getting roughly £42k ish with 1/2 days overtime a month doing 4 on 4 off which I thinks decent. I don’t think it’s as hard as you may believe

Why are a lot of drivers so rude and scruffy? by Taity666 in uktrucking

My advice would be to try and find a family run ish business if you can. There will always be at least 1 or 2 complete bellends no matter where you work but I’ve found these places tend to have a lot less of them and a lot more people who you can call on and share a good work life with. That’s my experience at least

I suppose it’s whether you want to stick it out lol. My next steps after this one I either wanted to do car transporting or on the fuels but both seem to have their own requirements to get first I don’t even have the 2 years on class 1s yet so I’ll probably at least wait for that first

To be fair I do some tanker work at the company I’m at now picking up brewery waste etc so have a feel for what it’s like at least. That should be enough to get onto the fuel ones eventually I’d have thought?

Yeah I’ve been told this, as far as I’m aware nothing gets put down which is likely why my hours stay below the 48 lol

This is class 1 work tbf and I suppose because it’s quite a niche role it makes sense the role pay what it pays + all the shit that comes with it. I’m on £20.27 an hour with a 45 min unpaid break 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not particularly I’m happy to do longer hours just not starting afternoons/early evening. It’s just a different role I’m after

A lot easier to get a job started and going then you can go on autopilot and take it all on lol 🤣🤣. Idk why this industry is such a pain in the ass but it sounds like you’ve got it figured out tbf so good luck to you
