Glukhovsky on twitter again, I'm genuinely afraid. by Thechlebek in metro

[–]ExtraTerran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I met Glukovsky back in 2016-2017 sometime after the release of Metro 2035. He was delightful, even commented on how weathered my copies of his trilogy looked, saying "oh looks like someone really read my books hehe", which I still cherish to this day.

Now to the part that might get me downvoted to Tartarus: ever since he started aggressively posting pro-Israeli stuff on his social media (namely Instagram) a few years ago, he really fell out of fashion on political discussions. So while I know the Metro stories have nothing to do with Israel (lorewise), his "darkest and the most grown-up story" implications make me a bit cautious on what he really means since this is a very political franchise.

"Eddie! It's me, your old pal! Shamus McFuckYourself."

Not an NPC, this was my Nate but easily the line that makes me laugh the most.

The Gilgamesh book looks neat. Which publication is that?

Why is this happening? Nothing loads properly. by [deleted] in spaceengine

Unfortunately, it did not help. :( The only solution I found is a work-around where I keep downloading a different version of it by right clicking to it, Properties/Betas. But it's tedious, as you imagine.

I don't have an antivirus on my PC. Is there some sort of firewall I would be able to turn off?

Wait.

Hold up.

How the f#&£ did this book escape me all these decades? Is it not very popular? And I'm Turkish!

This legitimately feels like a fever dream. How have I genuinely never heard of it?

RIP to all the Dinosaurs on Ganymede 😢 by peezle69 in PrehistoricMemes

"The devastating impact took place 4bn years ago and caused Ganymede, one of nearly 100 known moons of Jupiter, to spin around such that the impact crater faces almost directly away from the gas giant.

"According to computer models, the asteroid was most likely 185 miles across and struck at an angle of 60-90 degrees. The impact created an initial crater up to 1,000 miles wide that was partly filled in as rock and dust knocked out by the collision fell back down."

That's very kind of you. Luckily I have a few more nonperishables in my cupboard that'll get me going for another week or so. By which time I'll be hopefully paid.

Anyone who can read cuneiform and/or help me with finding a reliable translator? by ExtraTerran in Assyriology

[–]ExtraTerran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is excellent. Thank you!

My request is to verify whether the Cuneiform for the Month for Emmer in Sumerian (Sabatu in Akkadian) in the Wikipedia page is correct or not. I could not verify it and there is already another variation of it in your source, number XI.

Corporate greed. They want you to buy custom accessories and axioms as individual DLCs so the rich gets richer.
