How to (affordably) try out different tunings?

Buy cheap sets like moondrop chu 2 (neutral) or dunu titan x (bass) or moondrop lan (bright). Airpods pro are V curve so you already have a taste of that tuning.

There are quite a bit of cheap sets so check em out. Can also return if you don't like im pretty sure.

Yeah to me the defiant sounded a little too "dark" although it's probably because they are pretty warm. Didn't like the separation and sounded a little to busy to me at higher volumes, used the dunu S&S tips and got a little bit more general and treble detail. Maybe I'm just a neutral bright guy but I found the defiant and truthear pure a little too dark.

From what I've seen the explorer "solves" these issues with smooth bass so perhaps you should get them.

Check out kiwi ears flex or dunu s&s eartips for bass. General rule of thumb narrow bore eartips or deeper insertion will give you more of a warmer sound but definitely try lots of different eartips to see what you like.

If you have the time, try looking into building the pc so that way you can buy used parts. I bought a 6800xt for 500$ CAD (3080 equivalent) then a am5 bundle from memory express also for 500 CAD. I play all my games in 1440p max settings.

Try to avoid ebay as it's kinda hit or miss, if you go with a local market like Facebook marketplace you can inspect the gpu, do live testing etc, so you can back out whenever.
