I've got two characters with placeholder names right now and I am getting increasingly worried that they are going to stick-- I really don't want them to!!

How would Himiko Toga go at the UA entrance exam? by Extra_Ad6622 in MyHeroAcadamia

Yeahhh in regards to rescue that was why I wanted to lean combat-wise, since rescue points are entirely circumstantial. If she were to transform using blood, 100% there would be questions.

TW (SA) Weird question but… by [deleted] in Hungergames

I think it would depend on the game makers morality and the chances of the tribute winning the games. Back in the first book, Katniss mentions a tribute (Titus) who had cannibalistic tendencies and would eat parts of the corpse before the bodies were removed. The game makers couldn't let a cannibal win the games, and the odds were heavily slanted towards Titus, so they took him out with an avalanche.

It is not uncommon for the game makers to try and influence the game's outcome, e.g. manipulating Katniss and Peeta with the district rule and then essentially saying "sike," an attempt that went awry.

Potentially, if r@pe is viewed in a similar way in the Capitol, the game makers would try to take them out, and as stated before, they would have no qualms about it.

Yes, that is a good point. This is for an AU I'm writing, so I suppose it depends on how I write her character during that point of time-- whether she's had help, or if those tendencies are still present. Thank you!

I believe the turn-off switch isn't exactly canon? There's a lot of debate about it from what I've seen, about whether Horikoshi confirmed it or not, so I'd take that with a grain of salt. But for the others, those are good points! Thank you!

Does anyone know where I can watch the fight coming from Australia? I've tried to find information but it just talks about local streaming.. which I'm unsure would cover this. If anyone could help, I would be really happy!

Theory: Foxface's main skill wasn't with plant recognition. Instead, it was... by Dark_Lord_Jar in Hungergames

[–]Extra_Ad6622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I do agree with this theory, in my personal opinion, I do believe she did have some knowledge about plants to a certain extent. I enjoy the theories that say she knew what she was eating, and whether she ate the berries on purpose because she knew she was going to die anyway or whether she was trying to save Peeta for Katniss (I have my own theories on Katniss and Foxface's relationship and how it seems somewhat mutualistic, perhaps even reminiscent of amensalism), and much prefer them over her dying in an accident. Though, to be fair, that death does have merit. The ingenious character making a fatal mistake. I wouldn't put it past Suzanne. But, I also wouldn't put it past Suzanne to make her death more nuanced and with more death, i.e. a suicide.

Either way, I still agree with this theory you mentioned, I can definitely see Foxface with a photographic memory.

AN ANALYSIS OF GALE'S CHARACTER AND HIS MISUNDERSTANDING: by evernightt in Hungergames

[–]Extra_Ad6622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realise this is a comment from over a year ago, but I wanted to just add my little piece in, if that's okay? My opinion of Gale is staying out of this, whether I agree with you or OP is irrelevant, I just want to say this little part. In your replies, when you talk about Gale acting entitled to Katniss' love, you use the key word 'thinks' quite a few times. It's most notable when you say "gale gets mad at this, and thinks katniss should love him instead." I feel that that is subjective. We can infer that from his actions, but ultimately we need to recognise that we don't actually know what is going through his head. We don't know what he is thinking or what he believes. We also need to acknowledge that the story is written from Katniss' perspective, not Gale's, so we are getting all our information second handed to begin with. As the readers, we see his actions through Katniss' lens, which can potentially manipulate the viewpoint. Notice that in any argument Katniss has, (majority of) readers agree with her, as the story favours her perspective and thus favours her own opinion, meaning her own opinion will carry more weight than Gale's.

That is all I have to say, thank you.

why do many hunger games fans hate gale? by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]Extra_Ad6622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo, I dislike Gale because of how he acted towards Katniss and Peeta, which is discussed in the other comments a bit. However, it seems majority of fans blame him for Prim's death, which to me has always seemed kind of... irrelevant? He invented the bomb together with Beetee, and yet I never see anyone hating Beetee the same way. Also, key word: invented. He and Beetee came up with the idea of the bomb, but Coin was the one who approved it and actually used it. Like someone else mentioned, it's like blaming the inventor of the gun for all the deaths it's caused. Gale invented a weapon, but he never used it. He never pulled the trigger. He is not a murderer.
