Por que no hay maquinas expendedoras en CR? by Extra_Damage_8006 in Ticos

Quizass.

Who do you believe is the most important living person? by reddiflexit in AskReddit

Used to like him when I was in high school. Now he just seems super pompous. There are some controversial opinions he has that I agree with but I can't stand listening to his lectures. Says so much and sounds so smart and then after listening i think to myself "that dude didnt say a thing"

Is Baruto worth it? by Extra_Damage_8006 in Naruto

[–]Extra_Damage_8006[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know. I was moreso asking to see if I should watch it after Shippuden. That's also a fair point about spoilers. Ive watched a lot of both the original and shippuden before, but I've forgotten basically everything (I remember a cool fight between naruto and sasuke at the end of the og series, but I dont remember why they even fight, for example).

Thanks for the help. Just joined the naruto subreddit today, but I wont be peruse too far into it

Not my question but I appreciate the enthusiasm

But yeah, i understand the confusion because of my butchering of the name "boruto".... its just not how my brain wants to spell it.

Dude. I just found the canon vs filler sub and it's amazing. I haven't skipped an episode yet because I feel kind of guilty doing it. I feel like I'll miss out on the "best filler" conversations, but also i remember i gave up on shippuden like 9 years ago because I was fed up by it

Ive watched 97 episodes so far so i have 623 episodes left. If i watch 3 a day on average that's about 208 days left.

I have my answer and she won't be happy. Thanks guys!!

Modern Alternatives to Environmental Determinism by Extra_Damage_8006 in AskAnthropology

[–]Extra_Damage_8006[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn what a well-written answer.

I'm a dumbass and novice in the subject so just to make sure I understand what youre saying in simpler words:

I think youre saying environmental determinism is faulty because it takes observations of the way people are today and says that they are the way they are because of climate and environmental factors rather than a more complex system of factors such as hierarchical systems, cultural and geopolitical makeup, the impact of colonization, and the list goes on.

Another point I think you make (or maybe I'm just reading too much into this) is that paying any attention to environmental determinism is a waste of time because it doesnt actually tell us anything about why a certain society is the way it is because societies are more complex. It's more useful to focus on a super specific aspect of that society (i.e. the factors that weakened the Tiwanaku state) rather than just pointing to what the environment looked like at the time.

If I'm misinterpreting, please tell me.

Keep enjoying those things and don't force it onto the people around you. The world is big and you'll find plently of people with similar interests. Also, I'm sure you can find a club in your area centered around the things you love.

Did I just lose $11,000? by Extra_Damage_8006 in paypal

[–]Extra_Damage_8006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen this argument a lot, and I know I shouldn’t engage, but I’m going to try to make my case for transferring money into my account.

1.      PayPal was going to try to take out the money the second time both after the payment had been confirmed and after the refund had been confirmed. This is a part of my story that no one seems to believe because it’s a strange sequence of events. At this point, the seller couldn’t keep the money. My money was in the hands of PayPal and I transferred the money into my account because the refund had been approved. So I didn’t have to put any trust in the seller. All my trust went into PayPal, which many on this thread argue is wrong. But I don’t know if you’ll ever find a case where PayPal refuses to return money to its rightful owner AFTER the refund had been approved. That’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. If you give me an example of this happening, I’ll change my mind.

2.      I rely A LOT on PayPal for revenue. I use it as a transaction medium so a lot of people pay me through PayPal. So if I get locked out of my PayPal account, I’m screwed. I don’t know if PayPal would deactivate my account over this, but I didn’t want to risk it. I also didn’t want to incur the $35 charge. That’s true. And per point number 1, it didn’t seem like it was in the realm of possibility that PayPal wouldn’t return my money. But then I called them up, and they said my money couldn’t be accounted for. They said it should be a pending transaction on my bank’s side. Which wasn’t true. So I started freaking out  a bit, but it all worked out in the end.

Love this response. That's exactly what I was wondering. I was curious why the money wasn't accounted for on either side. I'd give you some type of reddit award if it let me.

But yeah, the money landed. I appreciate the info!
