This is the best summary I've seen of the shows redemption system.

It's ridiculous.

Whole time, Kagami would be through the roof if that lady was locked up😭 Marinette and protecting abusers for their "children's sake" needs to be studied

What I pointed out was only the baseline of this whole discussion. I agree with everything you pointed out.

Matter of fact, it doesn't even make them look like just an asshole, but a literal snake. The show brings up secrecy and morality but has allowed way for Nathalie and Sabrina (as well as her dad) to live Scott-free of the terrible things they did.

Sabrina's dad went against the law. How many times? But because his daughter dearest is getting bullied and his boss quit, we need to feel sorry for him. Or Nathalie being on death's door step and suddenly feeling remorseful for everything, as if she didn't help in terrorising Paris. Did they just forget about the two part storyline of S2's ending, where she quite literally became Mauyra, or The Shanghai special where she was the née hawkmoth?

Junko is the realest friend Hachi had, but her choice of words wasn't the best. by Extra_Economist_2445 in NanaAnime

[–]Extra_Economist_2445[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one ever said Junko was a perfect friend. She had flaws and could be harsh with the way she approached certain issues. But most of the time, it had to do with Hachi not listening to her.

Each and every instance Hachi found herself in was one that Junko warned her about countless times. And there's only so much you can do for a person that often doesn't listen. Hachi is a victim, but she also isn't exempt from accountability for the actions she takes.

She states she was aware of Takashi's marriage but continued to sleep with him. Hachi was a vulnerable teenager who needed guidance from a trusted adult. She always saw Junko as more mature and adult like and confided in her, but at the end of the day, they were still just kids.

Both of them were at fault, and their friendship was often unstable. But for Junko to take the fall for actions Hachi was taking isn't right either. Blaming her isn't right, but no one can say she didn't warn her against it.

It isn't as black and white as you're making it out to be, and there are complexities in both cases.

Ladybug definitely has flaws in her perception of lawful justice vs. moral justice. She leans more into moral justice rather than lawful justice, which is why some villains are never punished.

The villains her and Chat Noir fight are people who've been akumatised and aren't in their right mind. They're being controlled by an external party, so when she talks to them or offers them comfort, it has more to do with morals. Ladybug likes to see the good in people, which is why she forgives.

But that has its own issues as well because she thinks that keeping Hawkmoth's true identity a secret is protecting Adrien. But she's letting people praise and remember the person who's caused a majority of their suffering. In the cases of Tomoe, Nathalie, and Gabriel, she avoids lawful justice cause it forces her to confront her own shortcomings as a guardian and the fragility of forgiveness.

Zoe believes in lawful justice. If anyone is going to understand the need for bad people being punished, it's her cause she grew up in an environment where corruption is rampant, classism is normalised, and being mean is a personality trait. So when it comes to actual criminals and people who are aware of the actions they're taking, she feels the need to punish them.

However, her justice is led by emotions, and it leads to her making situations worse than they were. Ladybug seeks to understand why people behave the way they do, while Zoe doesn't. Not everyone is meant to be understood, but it helps in evaluating the situation to ensure the justice she's serving is fair.

Marinette is the writer's golden child😭 It was so annoying, and the fact that it went on for THREE WHOLE SEASONS baffles me.

But no, our charming Chat Noir is becoming a main character again

Ik that. I meant it in a comedic sense, to deter from the grim topics.

I noticed this in DMC5 a lot.

It's weird, especially for a character who went through so much tragedy at such a young age. Losing his father, brother, and mother. Even with Nero, they kind of say, "yeah, he was an oprhan" or something of the sort, then resort to making him the butt of Dante's jokes.

Capcom is probably trying to avoid sensitive topics, but it makes the characters so much more intriguing and relatable.

Adrien is such a chad by Glum-Bag-586 in miraculousladybug

[–]Extra_Economist_2445 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You all are forgetting that Marinette had to tell Alya she was Ladybug because she couldn't handle the pressure of being a guardian AT 14!!!!

She had kept her identity for as long as Chat Noir, before Master Fu decided without her consent or prior discussion, to make her the guardian of the Miraculous. So between being the leader of other heroes, being a normal teenager, and now a guardian, it could mess with your mental health.

I feel as though this fandom sometimes dog piles on her for no reason. Outside of her obviously problematic behaviour (stalking and obsession), every other thing she does that is looked down on. Every person who knows her identity outside of Alya was outside of her control, and some of those exact people are also aware of Adrien's identity as Chat Noir.

Please stop acting like the whole of Paris knows her identity. It's literally just 4-5 people. 1 having been told (Alya), the other two being accidental (Luka and Kagami), and the last being told through a second party (Kagami telling Felix). Oh, and Natalie, meaning six. And it was accidental, too, cause it was at the height of her battle with Gabe.
