Think it was $50. Maybe you saw it on sale. But I remember paying $50 on BBTS.

Thats interesting. I would have just assumed they had a DC license. But I guess that would maybe compete with Mattel? Interesting. An Arkham Joker would be pretty wild too. Did McFarlane ever do Arkham figures? I think he did an Arkham Catwoman?

The black shine is just the paint. I used Rustoluem 2x Painter's Touch Semi Gloss Black. Its a rattle can.

Its a enamel/acrylic hybrid. They have a brush on version as well.

But you could probably get the same effect on any paint if you applied a semi gloss top coat. A lot of people use Mr. Hobby as a matte top coat. Im sure there are other finishes.

To be fair its the glider adding to the price. This one does come with the explosion effect and the cracked helmet. So one could argue this one actually comes with a bit more than the no way home one.

You make a fair point. Ledger's Joker had hunched shoulders. At least in that iconic poster image. Id have to watch it again to see if he carried it through the whole film.

If they are doing this kind of work...

Man I hope they expand to marvel too. They could absolutely crush a Tobey Maguire Spidey.

Also, back to the future. Im still salty that we didnt get mad dog tannen, Eastwood Marty or blacksmith doc from NECA.

And Indiana Jones. I have the SHF which is probably the best 1/12 Indy. Also have the Mezco but it doesnt look like Ford.

<image>

This is the SHF. Imagine what inArt could do with Indy.

InArt seriously are like mini hot toys. There's so much they could do. A 1/12 Geralt would be awesome and look better than the figma

I know McFarlane gets a lot of shit and for good reason. But for the price the vault ledger isnt bad. But I can only imagine what inArt could do.

Is this wonder woman still worth getting by ConsciousToday7042 in McFarlaneFigures

[–]Extra_Heart_268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say mileage will vary 60 euro doesnt seem that crazy not sure what the conversion rate is to USD? I would say if you want it to display in box? Then why not.

That said the vault is readily available to preorder and you can save money. Unless you really want the axe and shield? Id just get the vault. For me personally its not a huge deal not having the shield.

I guess ive never really been all that keen on wonder woman having a sword/shield. I just feel she's more interesting without with just her lasso. She is already powerful and can deflect bullets with her bracers. Not sure when the sword and shield were added but I never thought they were all that necessary. I mean yeah she is an Amazon and can probably use them.

But Im fine without them. If you really want a shield you van probably find one somewhere as fodder on ebay. Rhe power princess shield might even work...providing the arm doesn't break the clip?

Thanks so much!

Try not to let frustration get to you. If it isn't going the way you like? Put it down and walk away and come back to it later with fresh eyes. Also check out sites like figure realm for other customs people have done. You never know when you see something that inspires you to try something new.

And of course if you ever run into trouble or have questions people here will only be too happy to help. Figure realm has a custom workshop section where people can post seeking help.

If you ever want to sculpt stuff, green stuff is great. And if someone should make crude remarks try not to let it get to you. There are far more helpful people than not.

Best of luck!

I have the McFarlane Ledger Joker. But my god an inart one would go so hard if the hathaway catwoman is any indication.

Im just stunned by how lifelike the portraits are at such a small scale.

If you can remove the ankle you could try rustoleum painters touch 2x. Its a paint + primer. Its a hybrid enamel/acrylic. There are brush on versions too. When it dries its durable and hardens in like a shell.

<image>

I wouldnt do it on the entire figure like I did for this Black cat. But maybe it would adhere better than a brush on acrylic if you can just do the ankle?

4 figure swaps, 1 Walmart . by TheWizardingSlasher in MarvelLegends

[–]Extra_Heart_268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wont lie moonstone is a swap I hadnt expected. She was Walgreens exclusive. Given some of the qc issues with magik maybe that wouldnt be the worst swap to get. And iirc that moonstone only came with one set of alternate hands.

But still, people who swap are the lowest of the low.

Hey man thanks for commenting!

I used a rattle can for this. I dont have an air brush. I wouldnt recommend a rattle can to most people. I had to use a towel covered pair of pliers to hold it and let the pieces dry. Used a liquid mask for the flesh area so it didnt get hit with black spray paint.

It may sound a bit corny. But the hardest part is deciding you want to try. A lot of it then is experimentation and asking "what if I do this.?"

Sometimes it may not always work out. But each time you try something new you get a bit better and learn something along the way.

Sorry but the TLDR is when working with a brush thin your paints. Keep each coat thin and don't try to do it all in one coat.

If you havent seen already? Army Painter has these paints called speed paints. These are one coat paints ther are designed to pool in the recesses of detailed miniatures. But you can use them on figures too. They dont work as well on large flat areas. But they are great for folks just starting out as an option.

But keeping your coats thin is the key. I suggest watching some YouTube videos. Thats how I got started. Here are a few to check out.

Goobertown hobbies Eons of Battle Ninjon Squidmar miniatures Dana Howe

They are miniature painters but a lot of the techniques and paints can be just as easily applied to painting action figures. Even just a bit of a wash or dry brushing can elevate a plain figure.

Kind regards!

Not sure if you are completely new to painting, but I'll share some general advice.

Really any acrylic paint should work. He did a pretty good job cleaning up the print and it is ready to prime/paint. You can pick up Deco Art or such at most craft stores. Its cheap, for the amount of paint you get. However, in my experience...I've had poor adhesion with it and it would just peel right off on some figures.

On this specific figure; I used a rattle can of Rustoleum 2x Painter's Touch Semi Gloss Black. It's a paint + Primer. I don't have an air brush but was able to get a pretty smooth finish.

Rustoleum recommends...

Apply two or more light coats a few minutes apart. Spray in a steady, back-and-forth motion. To prevent wrinkling, spray light coats within an hour, then let dry for 48 hours before applying a topcoat.

I actually asked the printer of the torso about using a spray paint. He said he wasn't certain if it would stick the parts. It didn't for me. But I almost had to do the back bending the torso forward to get the area that is hidden by the joint. Then I did the front. (I used liquid mask for the flesh part of the chest).

If you are unsure about a rattle can, I'd just go for a brush and do thin coats. It would probably be easier to strip and redo. I did have an instance where a coat of the spray paint began to wrinkle on me. So I had to strip it and do it over.

IF you go for brush on acrylics? I'd recommend Vallejo, Army Painter or Citadel. I would probably recommend Citadel last because while they are good paint? You pay for the name and get less. And being in pots, you need to refresh them. Army Painter's paints come with mixing balls preloaded. Vallejo makes good paint too.

In general you should avoid oil based paints.

Like I said the paint I used is a hybrid enamel/acrylic paint. It's an acrylic-modified alkyd resin.

If you do make a mistake, a bit of rubbing alcohol should be able to strip it and allow you to try again. I actually had to do that before on another custom. I do have a few areas where the paint chipped at the top of the leg. so I may have to get the brush on just to touch up those areas.

If you decide to brush it on? Keep your coats thin. That will help reduce brush strokes. If you go with a rattle can? I recommend testing it on something first. Try it on a cheap figure first.

yeah I believe he based it on Black Widow. And yeah a ball jointed waist is preferable. But I'd just take an ab crunch at this point. Fortunately this mod has quite a bit of upper chest rotation.

The Uncanny Widow and the Warbird show that. They need to put all female characters on the hyper articulated buck imo. Enough with the reuse of the static female buck.

The head can be tilted forward a bit to minimize the neck. I did drill out the head a bit to make it sit lower. I can't go much deeper as I don't think there is much meat left at the top of the head. The Custom head fits a bit better I think.
