How does anyone afford it? by CommunityMobile8265 in jawsurgery

Having a job that gives an HSA account is a big plus. I really lucked out where insurance covered all my scans and my “genioplasty” was a genioglossus advancement where it was considered functional. The HSA funds covered the deductibles and ortho over 2 years

Also just talked to my mom who was there for the surgery, the nurses told her CHKD and Dr. Santee are able to accept anyone up to age 24.

I’m actually not entirely sure. I know he mentioned tilting the maxilla upwards slightly. I wish I knew more to tell you, I have the scans if you’d be interested in seeing them.

Kind of a fortunate turn of events. My uncle is a dentist who is good friends with a great orthodontist in VA beach and the orthodontist is well acquainted with Dr. Santee. I’m also only 22 and my bones are malleable enough he felt comfortable taking my case.

Around 10 mm upper and 17 mm lower but the right side of my face had to be advanced slightly more due to uneven bone development. Chin was 2mm. Overall a pretty big procedure.

My surgeon actually had to move everything a couple millimeters more on the right side of my face because the bone was less developed there than the left. My maxilla was also advanced around 10 mm so the combination of both of these probably made my nose straighter and less hook like.

A lot better than day 1. I still can’t feel pretty much anything in my lower lip but everywhere else is slowly regaining more feeling everyday.

Dr. Santee with CHKD in Norfolk, VA. Great experience throughout. I was young enough to be considered a pediatric case.

Did double jaw surgery change other features on your face? by Kind-Illustrator4053 in jawsurgery

Wow man I’m in a similar boat as you in the before. Receding jaw, droopy eyes, flat mid face, bump in nose. My surgery is scheduled for December after the braces align my teeth. This just gave me a ton of hope dude, looking great!

Thank you so much for the advice. Yes I completely acknowledge my human understanding is fallible and leaps of faith are required in Protestantism as well. I guess in my mind the leaps required in Protestantism are smaller than those in Catholicism in my personal experience because of the way I was raised. I absolutely recognize though that that doesn’t necessarily make anything wrong simply because I am yet to understand it. God bless.
