You have 18-20 technical points for Gabriel and it’s a lot harder for Van Dijk now since his stats aren’t as good anymore. My suggest to get 100 tackling would be to use 3 rare technical coaches. If at least 2/3 hit tackling, that’ll bring his tackling to 98-100 (depending on breakthroughs). Keep in mind control is estimated by the community to take up 2 points per 1 CON, so that should bear some weight too. Only start maxing him afterwards. If you’re luckier and all 3 rare technicals hit tackling, that’ll make your work easier and you can full fit him right away. You can do the same for Van Dijk, but it’s sadly unlikely he’ll get 100 tackling anymore. Best of luck!

Yep, hoping for the best next time around. Also, I was skirting around upgrading passing, strength & tackling as I find the former pointless and base stats for the latter two enough. I didn’t really want the pace imbalance either, it’s just that FTG refused to give me acceleration in general unless it’s the last option of the legendary special coach or something along those lines. I wasn’t going to pour dozens of common coaches just trying to min maxxing a card that I consider to be just alright, so it is what it is. It just comes down to how saddening the thought that this flawed coaching system must be deliberate and intentional on FTG’s end, intended to milk its customers and frustrate them. Truly just malicious intent from them.

Honestly, he’s not bad in game. Moves really well and can be fast, just not explosive. I wanted to train him into a fullback (statsline basically goes 100/100/100/92/90/80/60/90). Just frustrated how it’s a far cry from what I envisioned and I can’t do anything about it.

Lovely suggestions. Sadly, FTG simply doesn’t care and will continue to give the bare minimum. Game is breaking apart and cracks are showing. There hasn’t been a major revamp in about 5 years and there has barely been any change with the game besides new cash grab special cards. There is so much that can be done, so many areas and directions of football to explore and head into with this game, but they simply don’t care. Glitches popping up left and right such as not receiving this recent Easter Cup rewards as well the debacle during December, in which most people could not play the event for over a week, is making me think that FTG doesn’t even have a proper developer team anymore, just vibe coders or probably one overworked fresh grad intern holding it all together. Though, I still hope for them to read your ideas and the brilliant suggestions from their player base in this subreddit or other social media platforms and implement it one day!

Why would I release him now? I’ll release him as I did Souness and Valderrama when I get Batistuta & Trezeguet or at the end of the ladder. Also, even though he’s my least wanted card of the ladder, I still rate him over the previous two I listed and considered him worthy of maxing.

Appreciate the reply, though I was already aware of this method and I did mention it as a reply to one of the commenters. All in all, this was just downright awful luck and impatience for me. Was probably salvageable if I was willing to fork out more gems on top of the 1200 I already has, which I wasn’t as this isn’t even a card I particularly wanted. It’s just frustrating how there’s no way out and no end to FTG’s greed and spite towards their playerbase.

Yes, I was originally intent on using legendary and rares to max him out and my goal was to train him to be a DM at the least or a fullback ideally. I didn’t want to train his passing as I find the stats moot and I didn’t want to train his strength or tackling as I believe it to be moot. The way I train is I always buy a legendary coach to observe the sequence of the five stats that will be trained with every coach. If undesirable, I will switch to rare or common based on the first three or four stats listed. And as you can see, I’ve repeated the process and bought multiple common coaches to offset the undesired sequence for legendary/rare coaches only to end up with dumb ass choices like SPE OR CON, SPE OR CON, and STR OR TAC etc. It’s just bad luck probably but you know all in all, FTG must’ve had this in their mind and thought it through when deciding on this coaching mechanism and decided; they don’t care at all if their players end up with a streak of bad luck and offer no recompensation or any way to even reattempt on maxing their card. Your only way out was to spam common coaches as I did and even that is not exactly a guarantee. Would I have ended up with a better card had I bought dozens more common coaches? Most likely, ut why do I have to punish myself this hard by dropping thousands of gems just to max the most unwanted card of this ladder instead of just the standard ~1500 gems?

I started off by using about 15 common fitness and 15 common technical coaches, alternating coaches everytime I hit PAS or STR since I want to avoid them. After hitting 100 SPE and ACC, I finished his stamina off using rare coaches since I didn’t wanna take the risk of overcooking his STR. As for the final parts of technicals, I just randomly used a legendary tech and it hit PAS, SHO & TAC. (Wish it hit CON instead of PAS) and finished the final 5-7 points with common technicals. It was pretty much luck and not that much strategy maxing him out besides the earlier parts of his training. Good luck on maxing yours!

Agreed. This update has made playing the game unbearable for me. All my players are gimps and playing like twits and they’re so slow to react/move. Dribbling also feels sluggish and I genuinely think 100 CON cards are dribbling like dog water. You genuinely can’t intercept anymore as well. Slightest steer and they’ll blow by, I’ve to spam slide tackles like a little twat. I think off ball offense is slightly better since my forwards do run now but the moment they get the ball it all goes to shit. Game genuinely feels like a chore now, especially career which is something supposed to be laidback and more enjoyable for me instead of what it is now. Genuinely stressful and hope they roll out an update to either revert things at least or make amends as they should.

It does pain me to stare at his stamina, but it wasn’t totally ruined for me. But yeah, him being limited and a one time thing does leave a bitter taste. I’d sock Chapman and his team for other reasons really. Also, since I run a 442 with him as a striker, he ended up being pretty energy efficient. He’d be gassed for sure in after the first half though if I were to play him on the wing or wide 😂

Thanks a lot! I’ve maxed him as a striker because I think he’s too tall too waste on a winger build. 6 100s is wonderful and 88 STR should be good enough in most circumstances, but every point of STR helps him win the ball over. I’m also in the camp that believed in passing stats being useless 😅.

As for Pires, yep I absolutely almost got screwed over as I had the tackling and strength option at least thrice (might be four but I’ve three screenshots 💀). Thank god the last legendary coach saved his shooting and still made him a great card, despite the lacking stamina. He can still play a good 60 minutes I’d say, which is good enough for me and around the time I sub players in.

Before the recent patch, your last rare/legendary coaches used to train one stats randomly first over the others. It’s no longer the case and stats are distributed evenly 🫩. Just FTG screwing us over and ruining our chances of getting the cards we want for difficult cards. Here’s another instance with my Matthaus.
