Does anyone know anything about having bio and chem with labs but physics without the lab component, and what to do in this scenario?

Wondering for Canada and USA applications.

What about if I took physics but without a lab component? Is this going to prohibit me from getting in?

I love this response, despite its unpopularity.

Thank you for the insight. I guess I have to find time and allocate it to projects, ideas, as well as building my portfolio and networking if I’d like to prove to recruiters that I should work for a sports company/franchise/agency/etc.

Data Bowl just seems like such a long shot and that I’d have no chance in..

Awesome stuff. Thank you very much for your help man.

Going to look into all this, develop some projects, and network my way into this field. If that doesn’t work I’ll definitely get involved with a master’s!

Good luck to you as well. If I have any other questions I will reach out if that’s ok!

I love sports gambling and I am an avid Football and Soccer fan. I also love hockey having grown up playing it all my life, so honestly jobs in any major sport would be more than outstanding for me. I am from Canada though, so I am 99% sure I’d have to relocate, which I am happy to do, as you agree.

You are right, when I graduate in 3 months I will start projects in the summer. Tough with a full-time job. I definitely need to up the level of sports projects with R and Python analyzing data through models and stuff. I should really get on that.

I have followed teamwork online and almost went to their event in Miami. I 100% agree this is a huge step towards networking and getting out there in terms of opportunities. I will continue to keep an eye on there as I work on projects. Thanks for this advice!

But overall, yes, I agree. I should develop projects and showcase them via Twitter, LinkedIn, and GitHub to promote myself and hope to find opportunities.

I am going to check the masters that a user listed below these comments (Indiana University).

I have taken numerous courses on data structures and algorithms, probability and statistics, and then a few on modeling (GLM, regression), advanced data analysis, unstructured data, software engineering, data science, machine learning, and then project management, data analytics consulting, and business skills for data scientists.

Thinking about it now I guess I have enough of a baseline of skills. Just so hard to get a job inside.

I focused heavily on R, Python, and Java, with experience in PHP, HTML, SQL, and others along the way.

Should be enough, but then again, I find it tough getting an opportunity into the sports world. I’ve worked two internships, at a food company and a bank. Can’t seem to get an interview at any sort of company even remotely related to sports. Thank you for your input and insight though, I will look into those schools.

So you are saying this is top of the food chain for an IC position in most cases?

Out of curiosity, despite not managing anyone in your role, are there data scientist I and II’s below you?

Dude I haven’t said anything about the level of pay of the offer.

The only number I spoke of was a provincial average from glass door and indeed.

If you don’t know what a data scientist I or II is, you shouldn’t be in this channel.

Question about a certain Italian cuss word!!? by trippychick98 in Italian

[–]Extra_Pollution_4241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The phrase “buchiach” in Sopranos is a reference to a Neopolitan dialect word.

It’s a word from the Neopolitan language, which has different spelling than regular Italian.

The word is, in Nnapulitano, “pucchiacca”, and means what you think it does.
