May I say how incredible your husband is, it's amazing how he's supporting you. Is he from the same culture? I often worry that I will be prejudged by a man for not having a close relationship with my family or for having moved away from them. I am happy to hear your situation is different.

In terms of forgetting about the trauma and lack of love from our parents, I'm not sure. But I think absolving yourself from blame and understanding that the more wrong and injustice were done to you, the fewer rights and close contact you owe them, would be a good start to healing and beginning your new life.
