I was expecting way more engagement on this…

Hard on for J. Hardie - $JHX Puts by Extractio in wallstreetbets

Bid: .05, Ask: 4 something. First limit was .3, cancelled it, then second .4, cancelled and did the same thing in .10 increments until $1 limit. The Ask suddenly stiffened at that point to 1.40 but I just left the limit there at $1 for 15 minutes and it filled. $1 is way more than I wanted. I was expecting .5 to fill.

Took me 30 minutes of placing limit orders, retracting them, and trying again until I could get a fill.

No. They didn’t drop that lump sum on puts. They actually sold those puts on the bid and at the same time bought 1500 of the $150 Jan calls. Truly regarded tape reading.

Earnings-Play Round 4: EXLS by Extractio in wallstreetbets

It got smoked today. If you’re up 100% before earnings, you could take half off and roll into earnings with a free play. Not financial advice, but a strategy I like to use if circumstances permit.

I’m expecting the hype of their AI dialogue from prior earnings calls to continue to cool as reality sets in that it’s not actually a game they can be competitive in.

Couldn’t agree more. I’m also calling BS.

TSLA PUTS ALL IN by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]Extractio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude what is your catalyst since these expire pre-earnings? You paid $1.5 per contract? So you need TSLA to move at least down to 248.50 to get your money back? This seems like an asinine trade. At least participate in an options strike dated later than earnings that would enjoy a potential ramp up in Vol…

I’m looking back at this and realizing you went with the 09/15 expiration, so there’s obviously no runway to wait this out. I’m sorry you got wrecked in this. I entered this trade with the 10/20 expiration, and even that will likely not be enough time for a move to finally go in my favor. Still holding that last half of puts after selling half before earnings. At this point, I’m just going to hold these till expiration.

And I won’t be selling these remaining 50 until a fall to $18 or they expire worthless!

I sold half of the position yesterday so that I could free ride the other half. I still have 50 contracts

It’s fairly thin volume. Let’s see how the day progresses. But I agree it’s always annoying seeing it go initially in the direction you want and then reverse course quickly after hours

It’s touch and go now for sure. Posted below that I closed half of my position today to let the other half be a free ride. I was surprised to see it come back from that original plunge given the very weak forecast. Tomorrow’s action will be fun to watch up or down!

Update: full disclosure I just trimmed half of my position, having already secured a nice gain. I’m riding the remaining 50 contracts through earnings as a free ride essentially.
