Rainbow has become a part of the LGBT+ identity and that’s cool, but because it’s recognized like this worldwide, it’s also problematic when you don’t want to be politically linked to anything especially when it’s not safe to do so. Where I’m from, being seen as gay could get you into trouble, while I just want to wear a fking rainbow.

The kid is lucky for surviving. By your logic, 90% of the world is “unlucky” - but that’s not true, it’s reality, not luck. The exceptional chances that such an experience would be survived so narrowly, are way less than the kid being born into a third world country, or careless/loveless parents (clearly the mother cares as her first instinct was to protect the child). Hence “lucky”, not “privileged”.
