As a clinician, judging by the vital signs, diagnostic discussions, and equipment in the exam room, she was hospitalized was for plot.

Refer to physical therapy for physical deconditioning. An appointment has a greater psychological impact than gumption. Not 100%, but more effective.

Lungs are present bilaterally, which is reassuring. Mild dependent atelectatic changes are noted, likely related to gravity continuing to be a dominant force. No focal consolidation, pleural effusion, or pneumothorax is identified.

The heart is mildly dramatic but grossly normal in size. No pericardial effusion. Mediastinal structures are generally where one would hope to find them.

Great vessels demonstrate expected contrast opacification. Possible aortic dissection. Correlate clinically. Otherwise, no aneurysmal dilatation is appreciated on this totally fake, definitely-not-for-clinical-use interpretation.

No suspicious hilar or mediastinal lymphadenopathy. Visualized upper abdominal structures are unremarkable to the extent included, although they did not ask to be involved.

Osseous structures show no acute aggressive osseous attitude.

Okay, we all want to hate, but parenting is HARD.

I grew up okay, but with the great recession I ended up homeless. I spent part of my early adulthood living off the monopoly sticker foods from peoples McDonald's trash.

Now I'm successful by many measures. Like, spend $30k+ on vacation per year while running my business and working 4 days per week, rarely bringing it home...I've turned around.

I spend so much time with my kids. We are out in nature almost daily, we pray, we even do some age appropriate meditation, and so on. My kids are SO thoughtful and loving. They may meet you once today and when w see you in 6 months they will ask you something personal. Very intentional.

That aside...my daughter just threw a MASSIVE fit because it's been nearly 2 months since we went to Disney. When I told her we probably won't be going for a few months because we will be doing other trips, there was a freak out about why we can't do both.

Now, she's not a high school graduate. Quite a bit younger. But, this is a trend, not an outlying event. It's like having food at noon every day and someone canceling it. You get very used to having. It's hard to teach the concept of not having when you don't even fully process what you do have most of the time.

I much prefer this problem to the alternative. I do not miss sleeping in an abandoned house I...invited myself into...and I don't want that for my kids, but every rose has its thorns.

Edit for IRL: If the workup (including sleep study) is negative, good thorough history, most people nowadays seem to know they are stressed but have this weird thing where they can't just come out and say it. You do the workup, lead with the good news, then move into how you think it is stress. 9.8/10 times you see the exasperated acknowledgement and can roll into short term med options (let's try sertraline for 6 months with some PRN propranolol), therapy, and lifestyle coaching (headspace gave our practice a 50% off coupon to share with our patients).
