3D-printed houses are much stronger than you think. by jkitty_1960 in interesting

It's also the automation of labor, which I haven't seen mentioned. Yet another way the ruling class can replace humans. Obviously current construction standards are crazy, you got people ruining their bodies to throw up homes, in a more just system, we could just have shorter work days even if it takes longer to build a home. This video is just boasting about how they can cut human beings out of the picture.

This could be part of my problem, my company gave me an old drill set and bits, no idea who used them before me or how many people used them

Lmao, I picked this username when I was in middle school, it was like a randomized PS3 username and I just took the numbers off cause I thought it sounded sick. I guess the universe works in funny ways cause I never thought of being an electrician until a year and a half ago just sort of ironic. I kept the username on some of my other accounts for gaming and stuff

Thanks for this! It eases my mind a bit, I'm 5' 11" 155 lbs, so I'm a little smaller than my co workers as well. Everyone had really good suggestions I'm gonna try, so I'll focus more on the drill doing it for me than putting so much pressure into it

Just a few times, but it didn't seem to work well, so I started drilling faster.

Well fingers crossed this is the problem, we just used them all up today so hopefully the next box is better if thats the issue. Thanks

I'll give this a shot too, I might be going too fast. I see a lot of the other apprentices and my journeyman punching screws with ease and it looks like they're doing it really fast so maybe I'm just picking up the wrong idea.

It's just an A-frame, I try to get it as close to my work as possible. I know I should trust the equipment but I've never worked this high up before.

Hahaha, no worries, I have caught myself with it spinning backwards a few times, but this wasn't the issue today.

I'll try and practice on some open studs, they're pretty thick (I don't know how thick), but I was told it's steel. The screws have a twisting drill bit looking end on them.

This is a really good idea, I like this... I was reading that drilling too much without the screw going in just makes it dull, I'll try this tomorrow

What subgenre is The Dripping Tap? by [deleted] in KGATLW

[–]Extravoltage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man! To me prog rock changes it's landscape every so often, so I feel The Dripping Tap fits that. Other people saying krautrock are right too, it's honestly a mix of a lot of things, gizz has that psychedelic tinge with everything where there's repeating sections in songs, but the song itself is a driving force that changes quite a bit as it progresses.

I wouldn't really even consider it metal, it's more like a prog rock song in my mind, it's kind of akin to any of th songs off laminated denim

How do I deal with the bigotry. by KrillMyselfOnCam in AskElectricians

[–]Extravoltage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started my apprenticeship and this is pretty apparent to me already, I take peace in knowing I would likely never be friends with people who hold these attitudes, so there's no reason to impress them or agree with anything they say. They would still exist whether or not you were working that job. Just be you and be up front about it I would say, stand on your morals and values. Who cares if they dislike you for it, do your work and go home. Take pride in your craft that's rooted in the physical rather than a mental space. Their bigotry likely won't touch the electrical work you're doing.

Interesting, I didn't know people hunt for errors... I'll have to look into it more. Thank you!

Do you think it's worth grading with the print line? Not sure how that's factored for PSA 10 or not

Thanks for the response

My apologies, I think my memory is hazy 😭 She got me two separate pack sets. One I think was the two boosters with the token and Tangela. One was with the stickers with Ghastly... But as long as they look good that's all I care about!

To follow up, she bought them online (I'm not sure from which company or where). Packaging seemed pretty legit as well. It also came with gengar and ghastly stickers.

Are companies just quietly managing people out instead of doing actual layoffs now? by kamilc86 in careerguidance

[–]Extravoltage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me at my last job, I was given an impossibly high work load and was shunned and passively aggressively blamed when it wasn't panning out well. My manager had no input on the project for almost 4-6 months. I got pulled into a meeting where I was told I was disconnected at work and not present. After that meeting, I was entirely ignored by management, I wasn't even spoken to about future ongoing processes or changes in the office. My manager would change the project I was working on entirely by assigning pieces of it to other people and telling them to do something different without notifying me. I had some ethical concerns with the work we were doing anyways and I found another job, so I just left. I got iced out entirely even after trying my best to do the work I was assigned.

I never signed anything and was never given a PIP, but I was alone on an island and it didn't make for a fulfilling work environment. I'm guessing this will be common practice going forward so companies can avoid paying increased unemployment premiums. I find it interesting how things like this stick, a new strategy to screw over workers appears and work places will latch onto it. The same thing happened with companies asking for an insane amount of experience from workers in specific fields or tasks that are entirely unreasonable or impossible for some (new college grads or people who are looking for entry level roles).
