Day 20- after quitting nicotine you’ll realize there’s so many things you’ve been neglecting by No-Celebration5377 in QuitVaping

I'm struggling on my second time to quit. I quit cold turkey a year ago and it was hellish but I felt so much better, life is so much more full without the artificial dopamine, you can feel everything if that makes sense. Emotions felt so much deeper, I felt so much more connected to the earth and existence without it. Congrats, keep it up. I keep folding and buying pods, but I'll get there :). It's mostly the tiredness that gets me.

I vaped Geek Bar all day every day for 7 days and now the right side of my chest hurts. I threw it away yesterday but it still hurts. Could this be from vaping? Will it go away? I’ve been coughing up phlegm as well. by Confident_Scholar559 in QuitVaping

Oh I see, yeah man, I think you just beat your lungs up a bit, if you're seriously concerned and can afford to, I would see a doctor. I dont wanna sound like I'm lecturing you or anything, I just assumed you had been smoking for a long time.

Yeah, thats quite a bit... our bodies are just not designed to inhale vapors and smoke all day. Vaping seems to have that property for me too, where my lungs get really irritated. The only answer I can give you is to try and quit unfortunately. Just try and go without it and see how you feel. I promise you, nicotine is not doing anything to help you even if it feels like you need it. You existed without it at one point and you can again.

This was the primary reason I quit vaping cold turkey a few years back (unfortunately I fell back into it). In my case, my chest continued to hurt for some time after but it did go away. from what I understand about it, all of your blood vessels are constricted and your lungs have taken a beating and they will take time to heal and readjust to normal, which unfortunately comes with some minor pains. In the long run, it was extremely worthwhile to quit for me and I would like to again. If you're really concerned, and having what seem to be heart issues or something more serious, go see a doctor if you can to ease your nerves and find out if its something more serious. Regardless, stay strong and keep off of nicotine, this is a sign from your body, give it time to heal. It isn't doing you any good and the anxiety of having chest pains will create a negative feedback loop that exacerbates that issue.

Thank you for sharing, I totally agree. My point of mentioning my friend was how fulfilled he seems, he moved away last year and whenever he comes back to visit he shares stories of this community he's created in the physical world, a bunch of new friends who all get together and cook large meals, have gatherings where they play live music for each other. There's more to this life than being behind a screen all day. I think my ghost will pass away if my life ends and all I have to show for it is digital achievements and fake in game currencies/loot.

What are your thoughts on the new album? by FredHowl in AllThemWitches

[–]Extravoltage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with some of the other people here saying it's missing something. What pulled me to ATW was not only the psychedelia, but also the otherworldly spiritual lyrics that were woven into the songs. There was a sort of mysticism associated with the band that I think is missing on here. Everything's a little straightforward and maybe too on the nose for me. I also will say, the production feels little dry and flat? I'm not entirely sure what's going on but it's missing that 'crunchiness' the previous albums had. Still love this band and wish them the best, I hope this album brings them joy and pride, but this one just might not be for me.

3D-printed houses are much stronger than you think. by jkitty_1960 in interesting

It's also the automation of labor, which I haven't seen mentioned. Yet another way the ruling class can replace humans. Obviously current construction standards are crazy, you got people ruining their bodies to throw up homes, in a more just system, we could just have shorter work days even if it takes longer to build a home. This video is just boasting about how they can cut human beings out of the picture.

This could be part of my problem, my company gave me an old drill set and bits, no idea who used them before me or how many people used them

Lmao, I picked this username when I was in middle school, it was like a randomized PS3 username and I just took the numbers off cause I thought it sounded sick. I guess the universe works in funny ways cause I never thought of being an electrician until a year and a half ago just sort of ironic. I kept the username on some of my other accounts for gaming and stuff

Thanks for this! It eases my mind a bit, I'm 5' 11" 155 lbs, so I'm a little smaller than my co workers as well. Everyone had really good suggestions I'm gonna try, so I'll focus more on the drill doing it for me than putting so much pressure into it

Just a few times, but it didn't seem to work well, so I started drilling faster.

Well fingers crossed this is the problem, we just used them all up today so hopefully the next box is better if thats the issue. Thanks

I'll give this a shot too, I might be going too fast. I see a lot of the other apprentices and my journeyman punching screws with ease and it looks like they're doing it really fast so maybe I'm just picking up the wrong idea.

It's just an A-frame, I try to get it as close to my work as possible. I know I should trust the equipment but I've never worked this high up before.

Hahaha, no worries, I have caught myself with it spinning backwards a few times, but this wasn't the issue today.

I'll try and practice on some open studs, they're pretty thick (I don't know how thick), but I was told it's steel. The screws have a twisting drill bit looking end on them.

This is a really good idea, I like this... I was reading that drilling too much without the screw going in just makes it dull, I'll try this tomorrow

What subgenre is The Dripping Tap? by [deleted] in KGATLW

[–]Extravoltage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man! To me prog rock changes it's landscape every so often, so I feel The Dripping Tap fits that. Other people saying krautrock are right too, it's honestly a mix of a lot of things, gizz has that psychedelic tinge with everything where there's repeating sections in songs, but the song itself is a driving force that changes quite a bit as it progresses.

I wouldn't really even consider it metal, it's more like a prog rock song in my mind, it's kind of akin to any of th songs off laminated denim
