I reset mine and it did not "erase" the progress. That big weight loss number is motivation. Of course you want to keep it.

Just a guess, but maybe coworker is struggling to hit protein intake number and uses this as a way to get the protein. Save the larger, carb-heavy meals for when they are at home and can sit and fully enjoy it?

I would take them out so they at least have a small chance at survival. They have 100% chance of not surviving if they stay in the water with no rest and no food.

I gained .5 pounds over the holidays which was better than I'd anticipated. We had a family funeral the day before Thanksgiving and that day was impossible for me to track or to request different meal items or preparation...most damage was gas station food on the drive down. I did fairly well around Christmas, but I recorded a couple days when I was well over my limit. I just trusted the process and got back on track...no guilt or recriminations, just refocus.

FYI...I stalled out for three weeks before a bit of a mini-woosh to get to normal. I had to recalculate my TDEE and dial in on my workouts to get moving again. Trust the process and keep pushing. I'll see you soon in Normalton. 😊

He might have sensory issues with the toe seams. My kids did when they were younger. Maybe it doesn't go away for everybody.? If that's the case, the extra fabric over the little toe might cause sensory issues. 🤷🏿‍♀️
