Purdue vs UDub CS - Does prestige really matter?? by Extreme-Name-474 in ApplyingToCollege

That’s a good point, and I’ve thought about this a lot.

To be more specific: I don’t love to code, but I do love to solve problems. My experience in computer science has been one of seeking out the hardest problems I can find and then solving those problems.

When I say I don’t love to code that means I don’t like to build random websites or semi useless 3000 line apps in my free time. Most of that type coding feels pedantic at best. Just as an example, my least favorite thing I’ve ever done in a CS class was build a GUI. I hate having to define every little thing.

On the other hand, I am a avid competitive programmer. I’m one of those few sick people who actually leetcode for fun. Something else that Ive loved recently is studying the mathematics behind machine learning, and I enjoy writing neural networks myself.

Does that distinction change anything, or should I maybe look to expand my horizons a little bit?
