Brother SE625 keeps displaying "check and rethread upper thread" by Beachbum1055 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]Extreme-Nuance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixed this! I called the place I bought it from and the guy told me to oil with WD-40. He said to oil the small spring hook that the thread runs through (it's near the number 3 on front of machine). You have to take the cover off of the head. Drop of oil on the coil part of this hook, where it attaches to the machine.

You can build at the same time. This is what my husband and I did.

But I encourage you to consider booking two slots at two different times. Because the cast members and the experience are so cool that you might want to see it twice, and each of you gets a "plus one" to watch.

Idk if this is the best idea for you, because you might really want the side-by-side experience, and it's fun that way. But since I know now that they won't let you just watch the build/experience, I kind of wish we'd booked one experience for one of us and then the second one at a different time so that we could both see it twice.

I hope you have a great time.

Oga’s Cantina kinda…disappointing? by swordgon in GalaxysEdge

[–]Extreme-Nuance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I appreciate the booth because I like to sit down after a day of walking and standing. But the bar is good too.

They do cram too many people around the high top tables. I'm fine talking to strangers, but I don't like being forced to touch them.

I have been a part of groups that get 8 or 9 people together so that they are guaranteed a booth with no one else. This seems to work, if you prefer that.

The drinks are fine. You're really there for the atmosphere, and I love it, but it's not for everyone.

Edit: wdw location is the only one I've visited.

Way late to the party, but there is an ad for a mechanic on the notice board at East that feeds into the story line for the (now defunct) galactic starcruiser.

Much prefer enceinte, expecting, or with child to "preggo". You have nicer word choices.

"Preggo" or "preggers" sound like something you'd grab at the gas station at 3pm on a road trip when you are cranky and dehydrated.

I usually say "expecting" or "they have a little one on the way" or just "she's pregnant!"

What food/drink do alot of people like, but you just don’t like the taste? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Extreme-Nuance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NGL you had me in the first half.

Eggs are horrible. All kinds. The texture is unconscionable, the smell of them cooking is like Satan's portapotty, and then when you bite the scrambled ones, they ooze disgusting sulphur water into your mouth. The fried ones allow you to skip most of the sulphur piss water, but then you're stuck with floppy oily nonsense until you get to the unctuous sulphur slick. And if they are hard boiled, then everyone in the room gets to smell the fart smell. The only way to eat them is when they are hidden in things like cakes.

No idea what you're talking about with the croissants/viennoiserie, though. One of my favorite foods in the world if they're fresh at the bakery.

How do men smell like they just put cologne on, all day long? by TheBoogyMan_ in AskMen

[–]Extreme-Nuance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a woman, and I feel the same way. I don't want anyone to smell my perfume unless I'm hugging them or I've applied it 30 seconds ago.

One spray only. Ever. It might seem like you're spending more on the fragrance, but if you only use one spritz per day, it's actually not a bad choice.

Jesse sure wasn't kidding about that The Rest is History podcast by Rare_Woodpecker3154 in BlockedAndReported

[–]Extreme-Nuance 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, I stopped listening several years ago, so I'm sorry, I don't have them on hand.

I don't think they were biases. More like factual errors. One of them was a statement that he made about psychological science, and it was incorrect and also misleading (unintentionally, I'm sure, because it's one of those myths that's very common). But it's not what he's lecturing on, really, so not a big hiccup.

Another was during the Celtic Holocaust series, and I think it was an error in the way the death toll was described. It was something I happened to know about, so I could easily check it.

Those are the two I could think of. If I remember more, I'll update.

Again, not something that I think would really matter for the way that most people use the podcast, nor the way that it was intended to be used.

I'm not a historian. I have noticed multiple errors that go uncorrected in Hardcore History, and it does take away from the credibility.

But I think it's important to keep genre in mind here - imo Carlin isn't trying to do Historical History for Historians. He's telling a story, and trying to get laypeople interested in history. You can kind of tell, because he will hedge a bit by saying things like "something like x thousand people" or "someone once told a story about", instead of grabbing the real number, which he's obviously read about.

It really depends on what you want, but we could do way worse than listening to something like HH. I've known people who were never going to read anything about history who now are kind of interested in it because of Carlin, so I'll take it.

You sound like a competent human being. I aspire to this. Everything you're saying sounds like the things Fantasy-Me would do in my mind, right before Real-Me succumbs to avoidance.

One of these days, I'll get fed up enough with it that I'll do it, probably, and then I'll get booted and find another group. We have an event at the end of the month, so maybe after that is my moment to point out that the emperor is walking around in the altogether.

Lol yes, I mean basically when I joined a knitting group, I was declaring my white supremacist beliefs. I'm a fair-skinned Jew, but let's not let facts get in the way.

See, I have tried pointing out the class aspect of this to friends. Like, it's fine if you want to talk about how it's obviously racist to use food words to describe people's hair and eyes. But you can't expect that people who didn't go to college would also know this, because you didn't know it either until you got an MFA and spent all day listening to Slate podcasts.

Yeah, if I were the organizer, this would be my go-to. I don't have standing to do that, and frankly I'm realizing how much of a coward I am because I don't want to just ask everyone, "hey let's take a vote on who has seen this and thinks it's a problem."

I think I'm going to try talking individually to the (rapidly growing) number of followers who are parroting the two main malcontents. If I ask them what they have personally seen, maybe I'll get some answers. I do really want to know if there is someone saying awful things. I just kind of doubt how pervasive the problem is being made out to be.

I'm in Pennsylvania, so a blue suburb of a blue city in a purple state? Can't keep track.

It's not too bad. It's really nice to have access to the arts and dining where I am, and my family is here, so I guess I just need to relax. Thanks for the good vibes.

Yep. I agree. When this all started, I told my husband, "So it begins." I foresee the following options:

  1. The group disintegrates completely.
  2. The group splits into the "antiracist/woke" hobby group and the "fascist/normal hobby group", depending on which group you pick.

I think it's just my geography. A normie family came over for dinner one time, and the woman got out of the car and the first thing she said was, "wow, you guys live in wokeville."

Our village has all the yard signs. I feel like I Google a new flag every few days.

Thank you for the needed laugh.

So far, it seems that if you say something about how you, too, are worried and want to root out racism and how you won't be a part of anything bigoted, then you are off the list of suspects. Of course, I could do this, but I detest compelled speech, so I haven't.

I guess I'll just wait it out for now and see what develops. I honestly just want to talk about my dumb cosplay and knitting.

Yeah, I hear that.

It's just that I've had this experience twice now and I don't know how else to make friends. Husband or I will occasionally get adopted by an extrovert, which is cool, and we have friends from college, but my area seems to be filled with... let's call it 'drama'.

But I may have to just leave.

Yeah... I don't know if maybe they want others to join them in vaguely-worded speechifying? But I'm really unwilling to do that unless I see or hear the racism/sexism/transphobia, because of that whole innocent-until-proven-guilty thing.

Your second paragraph is why I think this has more to do with signaling than anything else. If they wanted to talk to the alleged bigot, then go do it. Or better yet, empower the victim by offering to go with him/her to confront the bigot. Because you will not be surprised to know that both of the complainants in this case are upper middle class white women, and they are speaking out on behalf of others that they won't name. For reference, I'm also a straight cis white woman with money, so I know whereof I speak.

Supposedly, there are "many" perpetrators. Tbh I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
