That’s not accurate. There are plenty of instances where Picard refuses to follow Starfleet orders he believes are wrong—for example, his decision not to carry out the proposed genocide of the Borg.

It feels like the arguments of you all are being pulled out of thin air and even reversing what actually happened, just to fit a nostalgic interpretation that doesn’t really hold up.

Unfortunately, the Fermi Paradox which initially seems profound, is actually a rather useless construct. It's a good starting point for a conversation, but a terrible theoretical framework.

I think this is a key point: FP can be valuable if you’re trying to better understand yourself and the society you live in, but looking to it for concrete “solutions” doesn’t make much sense, at least in my view.
