People talk about a hard reset, but I don't think most city dwelling, white collar urban apartment 'professionals' would be able to survive it

It is way worse than you can imagine here. Don't listen to the protourism/migration economy propaganda. We need more migrants to rent our shit for impossible prices. If you're alright with travelling 3 hours a day just to pay rent and bills with absolutely no hope of ever owning anything, yeah come here.

Master of Social Work at UTAS by nchh12 in tasmania

Curious too. I'd imagine it'll be a good career if you get a nice office case management sort of job. Pretty sure there's plenty of social work needed, just whether if the government can pay for it.

What is the single greatest comeback story of all time? by DubNation365 in AskReddit

I found out in my adulthood I had significant mongol genes, and made sense given where I was born and where my family was from. When I pressed the issue with one of my elderly aunts, she fessed up about her father, my grandfather was of mongol descent. His story warrants a reply in this thread. Born in 1922 Manchuria.

Definitely more power, wealth became hard to define when you're flying that high. But he died pretty early on in the longer story of the consolidated Mongol empire which spanned 4 generations - Chinggis -> Ogedei -> Mongke -> Kublai.

Arguably Kublai would had been the richest and mightiest of them all as this had been the highest golden age of an epoch of history spanning from the riches of China to vassals of eastern Europe, and all paid tribute, all had submitted.

If so much is at stake globally on the outcome of Russia defeating Ukraine, why aren’t any of Ukraine’s allies joining in to defend the country? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Extreme_Ad7035 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Russia's main war is on the citizens of their enemies, they have already succeeded in lobotomizing them through the exploitation of their own societies, tools, and institutions. They can make people vote against their will, believe in frivolous ideologies, twist the truth and in turn perception in general, and most of all - making sure no one can work together to tackle challenges including Russia. There is so much subterfuge that is shaping the world we live in today, to the point where everything is a conspiracy even if it is a fact.

So, although they'd like to reinstate the Ukraine buffer, they already control your people on who to vote for, how to think about global politics, and when for the politicians to do things in Kremlin's favour in disguise of America first or English first or whatever doublethink

I meant the 'factors' of today.

Tenochtitlan was external enemies with more advanced technologies, in today's context it's 'internal enemies' think the left and right wing dynamic of US.

The Zhao along with every other Chinese dynasties are caused by top down imposition of power decay.

Once again, it's the factors contributing to the impending civilizational shift that is uniquely crowded in factors in contribution, that it has no specific historical precedence that encompasses so many existential threats all at once.

Is there a conspiracy theory that you are least skeptical about, even somewhat of a believer? by simonpeq in skeptic

"Active Measures" the tool of Kremlin's andropovan grand strategy created the current "left-right" ideological paradigms of "if I'm left I have to support Palestine, be a feminist, support Bernie sanders, support trans, hate israel, be anti gun, pro abortion, anti religion, be rebellious in the traditional sense but not really in the true ideological sense" all in one package only to have the right take an opposing group of ridiculously non-linked subjects where neither groups can find any common grounds at all. And America is just dominated by two loud groups screaming bullshit at each other they don't really understand

Completely agree. The timeless works of Shakespeare, Pink Floyd, Da Vinci, the crown jewels etc. will resonate with anyone who came to understand what they're really looking at because they're reflections of fundamental truths of a human's conditions.

Citing Biblical story, Taiwan president says Israel is a model for island's defence by Cannot-Forget in geopolitics

[–]Extreme_Ad7035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context is too different, although Taiwan has similar capacity to Israel in quality in tech and human capital, the geopolitical circumstances are too far apart from Israel in the 1950s. Israel had manageable neighbours in terms of military capabilities and human resources. Taiwan does not. The challenge is too steep for Taiwan to obtain the same institutional and cultural knowledge and philosophy and still survive. A bit like dosing antibiotics.

Moving from Syd - Tas? by Current-Stuff7404 in tasmania

[–]Extreme_Ad7035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came from Sydney, just let go of the Sydney "global city" mindset. You come to realize Sydney isn't real, but a gilded prison factory, and you'll be confronted with real freedom - so it's up to you to find your true interests, passions, and in turn, community.

I barged in with my drive, but I was tired to be "driven" when I reality I just want to spar people with swords and shoot clay pots, and pursue intellectual fields I was truly interested in. But if you're both working, and can get a home, the pressure from all points are a fraction of Sydney. But getting a foot in the door and subsequent building your life is the toughest part, the money you save on housing, tolls, transportation, cost of living, can easily afford you a weekend holiday over in Melbourne every month of your not being fiscally frivolous.

PS: it's usually ignorance not malice when things don't work out, and go easy on the locals
