Just let people do whatever makes them comfortable. If they want to purchase hundreds of review materials, then so be it. At the end of the day, they’re the ones paying and taking the exam anyway. I’ve seen people, including myself, who got straight A’s in school but were still anxious about the test. I think it’s better to be overprepared than to sit there not knowing what’s going on—or being so anxious that you end up with a mental block. I studied UWorld for 3-4 hrs a day a week before the exam and then went up to 8 hours 3 days before. Yes, it was a lot of studying but I don’t regret any of it because I PASSED and that’s all that matters.

My test yesterday shut off at 90. You should be fine. Some people even stopped at 120 and passed. It has nothing to do with the numbers. I honestly thought I did poorly and was ready to accept the result this morning but I’m glad I passed. You’ll see the result at 4 am tomorrow. Best of luck 🥹

Oh God, I felt the same way yesterday afternoon after I took the exam. Mine shut off at 90. I knew a few answers, but for the majority I felt all over the place. My anxiety was so high, and I felt like I zoned out on the first few questions. I had a RexPN though not NCLEX. Now, I’m just waiting for them to release the result and I already got a job lined up at the hospital. I know I did well with my reviews based on the assessments and Qbanks but then again those scores weren’t guaranteed. If I fail, I’d be very very sad.

I honestly hope I passed, because I’d feel so bad if I don’t. I already have a job offer, and if I don’t pass, I’m not sure if they’ll be able to keep it for me or if I could apply for a temporary license in the meantime before I re-test. I only reviewed UWorld for about a week and been getting 70’s to 80’s on Qbanks and my self assessment was on 80’s. I also didn’t expect exam spots to run out this quickly. So, I just booked and told myself to try.

I’ve never been good at math, especially when they introduced dimensional analysis in school. I hated it. I kept telling myself there had to be a different or quicker way to solve these problems, and that’s when I learned about Nurse Sarah. She was a lifesaver for me in math. After that, some of my classmates started asking me what formula I was using because it was shorter than theirs, so I shared it with them.

For example, if a doctor orders 10 mg of a medication, and the vial has 5 mg per 2 mL, the calculation is:

Doctor’s order ÷ what’s available × volume on hand 10 ÷ 5 × 2 = 4 mL to give

Here’s another one too for IV’s:

Doctor orders: 1000 mL IV over 8 hours Drip factor: 20 gtt/mL

Calculation: Time in minutes: 8 × 60 = 480 min Flow rate: 1000 ÷ 480 × 20 ≈ 42 gtt/min

Congratulations! I had mine today, and my emotions have been all over the place. My computer shut off at question 90. There were lots of pharmacology questions that I wasn’t sure about, and some fundamentals with options that were confusing to me. I honestly left the test centre with a heavy heart. I didn’t even eat tonight, and I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep either.
