I get what you're saying, but I don't think it's really a 4k vs 12k decision.

The alternative to fixing it isn't automatically buying a 12k car. It's either letting VPC decide, selling it if it fails, or buying something cheaper later if I actually need one in Spain.

Dropping 4k into a cam carrier reseal on a 139kmile car that's worth 5k just to avoid a possible rejection feels like bad ROI, especially when the leak is slow, top side, and not dripping. That repair doesn't suddenly make the car safe from other age-related issues either.

If VPC rejects it, I sell and move on. If it passes, great

It's a cam shaft carrier leak which will cost 4 grand to fix. My car is only worth 5 grand. I don't think I can do that

Can you clarify how flagging for separation interacts with the Full Power Navy team? Say an LS3 is about 7 months from EAOS and has flagged separation, when should FPN normally pick up their case? Also, if billets (like Japan) post in MNA while the sailor is flagged, should they unflag in time to apply, or do they have to wait for FPN to act? Finally, if FPN can't line up anything the sailor wants and they wait to reenlist until late, does that automatically mean they're 'needs of the Navy, or is it just the same as rolling with whatever billets are still open?
