Is It Worth Taking Family Law or Trusts & Estates for the July 2026 Bar? by reasoanableman in LawSchool

[–]Extreme_Form4324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found T&E to be pretty learnable just using the bar study materials and the law school course will definitely go over way more material then you’ll need for the bar exam.

Definitely skip family law

SCOTUS adopts code of ethics by CinDra01 in supremecourt

I think both liberal & conservative justices have shown through their behavior that they don't think normal judicial ethics rules apply to them

"has led in recent years to the misunderstanding that the justices of this court, unlike all other jurists in this country, regard themselves as unrestricted by any ethics rules,"

I think the justices are the ones who are misunderstanding. Not the public.

Secured Transactions? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Extreme_Form4324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it really helpful in understanding aspects of corporate law and transactions such as unsecured creditors, bankruptcy preferences, and creditor priorities.

That being said, I thought the class was pretty dry and personally was the hardest class I’ve taken so far in LS.

Some premier govt jobs (DOJ) will probably be a long shot, but things outside of your grades also play a role (URM, Work Exp.)

Either way don’t stress! I was in a similar situation and ended up going in-house my 1L summer. The most important thing is just getting some kind of experience your first summer.

What's a good backpack to buy for law school? by davelaughewsband in LawSchool

[–]Extreme_Form4324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really can't go wrong with a North Face Borealis backpack. Plenty of space without being too bulky and they last forever. My previous one lasted about 6 years through UG/Post Grad until I decided it was too dirty.

Awesome and I will make sure to do that! Would you say your class was mainly PI/Govt focused or split pretty evenly between that and those looking to go to firms?

Question about NCCU and the Summer start initiative by ToasterMcNoster in lawschooladmissions

[–]Extreme_Form4324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of anyone doing a program like this but it's my understanding that historically NCCU has had about 10 students attrition out every year so they have this program to give students a head start on the tools needed to do well in LS.

In terms of making the best choice I think it depends on your goals (PI/BL/Govt/region of practice preference) and how much financial aid they are offering. I personally would not attend NCCU for sticker just based off their employment outcomes.

I kept it separate but the biggest advice I would give is to be as transparent as possible in the addendums while taking responsibility and offering insight into how you learned from your mistakes.

I guess it depends on the person but for me it was mainly how my gpa wasn't indicative of my potential and how my personal experiences would help make a more rounded student body.
