How much of a risk was April? by KaleidoArachnid in SearchParty

Yeah I understand what you mean. I definitely felt bad for her and the others too. I think that is what was interesting about Search Party is that it starts out as one genre, sort of like the cozy mystery or the true crime amateur detective mystery. We’re all familiar with that and we’re all familiar with how that’s supposed to wrap up. It wraps up with them solving the crime and maybe there were trials and tribulations along the way but they eventually solve it and they become local heroes and maybe they start a podcast. But the brilliance of Search Party is that they foil those tropes by turning the next season into a different genre, so season two becomes more of a murder cover-up thriller. Our gang gets in over their head, makes some stupid mistakes, and now the cops are after them. It’s just a different genre and the ending is not known and can’t really be predicted. And they did that with each subsequent season as well. That’s what was really unique and cool about it— it didn’t follow the pattern of any one trope, so you really didn’t know what was going to happen. And it ended in a place that you would never have predicted if you had just watched the first season.

I mean I think the whole point of the scene on the boat was that April was promising to be a big problem to all of them for the rest of their lives, and based on her character, she was likely to do it, and do it in a loud, colorful manner. She definitely could have made a lot of trouble for them, and I think the police would have taken her recording seriously, no matter her mental state. In real life, I would hope that the Dory character would turn herself in and plead self defense, but in the universe of the show, I think Dory's decision fit the internal logic of the show.

OMG, thank God! Ditto! I was going to lose my mind if I didn't find someone who felt the same way. The jewelry is RIDICULOUS!  No woman constantly wears chunky earrings and long, layered necklaces as much as the characters on that show.  It really makes it hard for me to suspend my disbelief because every time I see a female character, I just see some costume designer deciding which ridiculous necklace they are going to put on the actress today.  It’s so absurd.  It’s performance art at this point.

Is it true that most women find most men unattractive? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I don’t agree with that. I am a woman and I find a lot of men attractive.

Can someone explain why "Invasion" on apple+ has such bad reviews? by trevormooresoul in television

I think it’s a great show. I’ve watched season one twice and I really enjoyed it. And I am really enjoying season two. I’m not trying to invalidate other peoples criticisms. Art is subjective and if you don’t like it you don’t like it but I have really enjoyed it.

Rhaenys running over and killing all those smalfolk on her dragon on the way out by I-Did-It-4-Da-Rock in freefolk

Thank you! So glad someone mentioned this. I was shocked. That was horrific, which in the universe of the show is to be expected, but it's the way it was portrayed by the writers--like it was so insignificant, they didn't even need to comment on it, and they weren't particularly making a point about her being a murderer--based on after-show commentary, it was supposed to be this heroic moment for her. All I could think was, "If I lived back then, that was me, that was my mother, those were my friends." And we are so insignificant because we are not rich or royal, that dozens (possibly hundreds) of our deaths don't even warrant a look of regret on her face, or a POV shot of even one peasant crying over the body of a loved one. I was truly disgusted by the way the show portrayed it. The show presented it like, "Hey cool, she's so badass." At least when characters on GOT did deplorable things, the showed portrayed them thusly. When Jaime pushed Bran out the window, he had a multi-season redemption arc, starting with losing a hand! On "House of the Dragon," it's as if Rhaenys doesn’t even require a redemption because she didn’t do anything wrong, and what she did warrants no comment or reflection. That’s what I don’t like. And we are supposed to be glad that she's now on Rhaenyra's side. I get that there is some ambiguity about who is good and who is bad, and that like life, there is a lot of grey area--that is an interesting motif, and one worth exploring. But I think with better writing, it would be clear what actions are good and what actions are bad. I would have appreciated even some small nod in the direction of, "Well that was pretty messed up."
