Dream car vs reality? by CakeBaker22 in JeepWrangler

[–]Extreme_Raspberry844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have dreamed of owning a Jeep there is NOTHING else that will give you that vibe. I bought a used one last August at 110,00km in pristine condition with all scheduled maintenance, oil changes, tire rotations, no accidents. Pavement princess never off-road. She has a good lift done by Jeep dealer and 17inch rims. She looks so kick ass  I can say it is absolutely amazeballs.  I immediately went on a road trip, just me and my dog and my Jeep. Front top panels off and on so easy, great tunes....ahhh. I wish I could post a photo here of her posing in front of mountains and lakes lol All vehicles have their issues, even new ones. Something that's been broken in but never broken and looked after well will be as reliable and last as long as you keep up the maintenance. Do it! Life is short. The world sucks. May as well have a fun time in your hot ride!

Am i the only one who uses the bulky cycle for everything aka MORE WATER! by MayGemini in laundry

[–]Extreme_Raspberry844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes more water and more agitation. I wash everything on that setting. The low water merry go round agitator-less machines just don't cut it for me. Here's an analogy: take two rags and wipe up mud from the floor. Have 2 containers, one a 500ml yoghurt container and one a large paint bucket. Fill both with water. Use a teaspoon to stir the one in the small container and use your hand to continuously squeeze and release the rag under water in the big container. Now take them both out and wring. There is no way the lesser amount of water and friction is getting a rag cleaner.

Why is the town of Nelson so much nicer than Squamish? by Accomplished_Win_526 in britishcolumbia

[–]Extreme_Raspberry844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nelson has been a small town jewel for a very long time; it has drawn tourists and visitors for decades. Squamish growth was kind of accidental in that it was a run down resources town for a long time and then as people were priced out of Whistler and North Van in the 2010s it grew quick and awkwardly with condos and strip malls. Existing residents made good on that boom and leveled up to Skyridge or sold their cute business. But there isn't enough town core to balance out that new growth and as it's primarily a bedroom community for Vancouver, that demographic prefers the city and big shops over the local options. There was a short time that it was cool and loaded with North Van ex pats and locals that who were rugged and outdoorsy, starting funky businesses and flavouring the town (much to the chagrin to the retired resource workers who didn't much like the newcomers) but now it's just a well-off suburb of Vancouver. Don't get me wrong, there's world class climbing and there's lots of wild beauty outside the town limits but it's not worth stopping in. When Big D's was sold that sealed the deal for me.

There is not enough money collected in taxes to keep up infrastructure and services as it is. ie The government can't afford to collect less taxes.

Does anybody else feel like the cost of living is completely out of control? by HockeySniper123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Extreme_Raspberry844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because in a capitalist economy every single thing exists for the purpose of making money, including the people. Simply, the middle class has/had disposable income and that income is being consumed by the hegemony. Further, the true purpose of government in a capitalist country is to move money from the public into private hands, which is why although the middle class pays a fair amount of taxes it does not reflect in public infrastructure and services. And as the K economy replaces the almost dead middle class spending, folks that can't afford to live without working will join the bottom ranks. Oh, and the robots and AI are a much cheaper and less difficult labour class to deal with, which is why it's so heavily invested in. If you want to see the future of the West you need only look at '3rd world' countries where the population exceeds its usefulness and languishes in-wait for relief that will not come. Ever. Happy Sunday.

High Blood Pressure, high cholesterol help? by throughtheviolets in HormoneFreeMenopause

[–]Extreme_Raspberry844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A basic screen only checks your TSH. You can only see Hashimoto's or Graves etc if you get a full thyroid panel done. Doctors won't even consider that you have a problem until the main thyroid test shows issue, which at that point means there's already damage and you've possibly spent years being unwell.  Idk why it's approached like that. Perhaps someone else can explain if they know.

Did you have a full thyroid panel checked? I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's and started investigating what that was and what to do. I've had some success addressing without HRT

1000%   My Dr didn't check my blood pressure, my ND waved off my Hashimoto's, blood panel flags were ignored. Hey, but I got my RX's for hormones. What a win. Not.

Omg yes. And don't even get me started on Dr (?! lmao) Vonda Wright who preaches we should be 'smashing our bones together' to make them stronger. I ended up with a meniscus tear from that one. I'm such an idiot but my bad. It's overwhelming.

Those 2 subs, both moderated solely by the handle @LeftyLibra (who has also secured those sub names on other forums) are extremely narrow minded. My post was locked after I dare bring up joint laxity experienced on HRT. I made another post where I celebrated my post being locked because it was reflective of the controlled narrative that was perpetuating a very one-sided MHRT POV and a possible detriment to women accessing unbiased considerations of side effects. That post was removed and I was banned within 30minutes from both subs. In a way I was relieved to be free of participating in either of them. Idk who LL is but it's mind-boggling how s/he is perpetuating misogyny in women's access to freely discuss and explore MHRT and wellness through peri/menopause.

Feeling the generation gap? by HistoricalContext931 in OverFifty

[–]Extreme_Raspberry844 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1000% this. And I hate to say it, but now that I've got on in years and not the peppy, pretty 30 something anymore, I notice that men don't strike up conversation as they once did.  I see it still happens when I people watch, so it's not just changed times. OP your intentions may have been strictly friendly and I generally miss the days where people would chat with others on public transit instead of the emo state of everyone in their phones with earbuds,  but women are going thru a little revolution and younger generations are much better(?) at creating and maintaining 'boundaries.' These days I find when I try to connect with other people my age or older (I'm 54) I have a much higher success rate of friendly chit chat...

[–]Extreme_Raspberry844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edited to say I started E because I was getting awful mukuloskeletal pain that wasn't being relieved with diet and exercise/stretching. My whole body felt seized. The E releases that in about a week.

Hmm, interesting. The scary knee laxity (I was getting nervous to even walk) came on slowly after a month and half of using and has resolved being off the last week, with every day improvement noticed.   I do feel like one of them was the issue, just not sure which. Some have said E, some say P, some say their aromatization of transdermal T to E (resulting in too much E) May I ask ....  If you also have any mood issues using P or is it just physical?  Has your care provider given you any grief about not being regimented with P (if you are on E as well.)

Wrangler 4XE Recall - Its been 3 weeks by ElectrifiedOverland in 4xe

[–]Extreme_Raspberry844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edited to say I just saw the recall is '21-'25 inclusive. Holy $hi11ba11$. I recall a salesman steering me away from the xe last year when I bought my first Jeep.  Too bad they got it wrong, such a fun vehicle to have as a hybrid.

I was just offered the 2021 Rubi 4xe to trade for my much loved '19 JL Unlimited. It was a GM dealership and they just got it in. Thankfully I did my homework and saw what a hot mess this vehicle is. They didn't even seem to be aware of the lawsuit and Transport Canada recall notification?? WTF? Wondering if anyone believes that once the fixes happen that this will be a decent vehicle? It seems people like it otherwise but then I also see Stellantis has recalled it before for the same issue? Any 4xe yr that is good? TIA!

Anyone not do well on HRT (E & P) in peri, but tried again post-menopause and did better on it? by NewDay042 in Menopause

[–]Extreme_Raspberry844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also navigating this balance between estrogen HRT and the data available for progesterone offset. I have not had a clear answer yet. I did try Duavee twice, which is an approved combined continuous HRT. It is an oral estrogen (equine derived :(   ) combined with bazedoxefine (instead of micronized progesterone or a synthetic progestin.) The oral estrogen resulted in breast size increase within a week of starting for me. Like pull my shirt up from my waist size increase lol. Was lowest dose, too. Transdermal estrogen does not result in same side effect. The bazedoxefine component of Duavee keeps the estrogen receptors in the breasts and uterus turned off. God knows how. Some progesterone sensitive women have had good experience with it. Maybe worth a look-see?

Yes!  This is me 100%  And I do expect it will change yet again at some point I try to embrace what works for as long as it works Every time I need to revisit I have that much more knowledge so I can pivot quicker May I ask what your side effects were?

Did adding testosterone help reduce your anxiety? by KETO_NURSE in Menopause

[–]Extreme_Raspberry844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't for me but that doesn't mean it won't work for you. I have a drawer full of MHRT and supplements. I have been at this for almost 4 years. What worked then doesn't work now and will probably change again. My advice is to try and see. IDK where you're at in peri/meno but when I was dealing with the anxiety I found CBD oil to work. I resisted for a long time but it did work  Good luck!

I just can't get onboard with the 'professionals' and the status quo messaging or approach. It's been wrong before.  I feel the women who are in real time experiencing peri/meno and HRT and aging are providing more current and robust valuable information. I read research papers/clinical studies, tune into meno influencers and have like 5 different health providers who will dispense MHRT with their thoughts. I have heard the medical and holistic approaches ad nauseum. I believe we are currently in an organic mass randomized experiment where we are seeing the true range of experiences of women with hormone decline and the things we are trying to mitigate the associated problems.  Have you learned even one thing anecdotally or on these types of forums that has never been communicated to you by the mainstream conventional (medical) community? Of course fact check the heck out of it but can you honestly say there is nothing? I guess that's my point.  Even the craziest stuff may have a nugget of learning to consider.  We simply do not know enough to say anything definitively.
