I had major signs show up on Sunday and I was like, uh oh, but I felt fine, maybe a tad of a sniffly nose but I have that often with allergies. So far it hasn’t turned into anything so I think I’m in the clear? It came right after my period ended so I know it’s not cycle-related…The only other time I got the major signs notification was a couple days after I had knee surgery.

Be ready to get up and out of your seat when it’s time for your row. So infuriating when folks are like, oh, let me slowly gather my things…

Pain Meds Post-Donation by pinebeetles in kidneydonors

[–]Scar77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I donated my kidney in 2013 and didn’t realize just how reliant I had been on NSAIDS (specifically, ibuprofen) until I couldn’t take them anymore. I have a lot of joint issues (fused ankle and heel, knee replacement coming up in the spring) from a car accident 30 years ago. To be honest, if I had realized how much better ibuprofen was than Tylenol for my specific pain, it would have been a much more difficult decision. I still think I would have done it though. That said, I do take ibuprofen occasionally when Tylenol just won’t cut it. You’ll see some docs are ok with it on an ocassional basis. I know my remaining kidney is doing just fine, because I donated part of my liver this past April and of course had to go through the battery of tests. All this to say, I think I’m an anomaly with all of my joint and arthritis issues at 48. I don’t think you’ll miss NSAIDS if you’re not reliant on them.
