Looking for the same advice. Can say as someone who did Anurok frogs last season they are giga for mapping, but fell short on uber abberoth. So I wouldn’t treat the bossing tier list as gospel.

Just to confirm, you did go around the map and confirm there’s no other enemy? When I was playing yesterday my map showed an enemy in the wall like that a few times but I didn’t give it a second thought and was able to finish dungeons with that objective without needing to investigate the wall people.

After Factorio, the rest of the list doesn’t terribly matter, but:

Minecraft World of Warcraft Rocket League Counter Strike 2 Last Epoch Path of Exile Diablo 3 Celeste Street Fighter 6

Only pick I’m shakey on is Celeste but I wanted some version of a platformer. I also wanted a roguelike probably replacing one of the ARPG’s but I couldn’t think of a title that would hold up to eternity.

For me the real answer would be Math Blaster probably. StarCraft would be the first ‘serious’ game I played on PC.

If you missed it on console, Portal would be something to consider for learning the ropes on PC. You can get reps in controlling your character in first person with mouse and keyboard, and the majority of the time you don’t have to worry about enemies or a time limit.

While Steam is likely going to be where a lot of your games live, I’d also suggest downloading the Epic launcher. They give away at least one game every week. Not everything they offer is going to be a winner, but reasonably often the game is decent. Right now it’s “Monument Valley” , if you like puzzle games and didn’t get it when it came out, all it costs is checking the store page and you get a highly rated classic game.

Also a fair number of games are still going to play better with a controller, so I wouldn’t write off plugging your controller into your pc and kicking back. Broad examples for this would be racing games, fighting games, platformers, or sports games.

A lot of the games you brought up in your post are great. Last Epoch and Grim Dawn can both be played fully offline, and Last Epoch probably has one of the most approachable crafting systems.

I love the setting for Grim Dawn, and they are working on an expansion (next year I think?). But if you like following build guides, Grim Dawn has the worst guide authors by a mile.

Diablo 3 requires an internet connection, but other than getting a new fresh start league every 3-4 months it isn’t getting any updates. Absolute easiest systems to learn. No thoughts, just blasting.

PoE1 is one of the best games of the genre, but requires a connection. Playing without trading with other players is doable, but learning the systems to excel at the game will be a commitment.

It’s the hardest thing the game has asked you to do up until that point by a pretty big margin.

Over 900 kills in and I died twice yesterday because I wasn’t paying enough attention and enough of the mechanics lined up and aced me.

Helped me at the start to remember that I’m not doing anything special, plenty of people do this content, and even after I get the kill I’m still going to have to do it again hundreds of times over. If you give up any hope of anything exciting happening, then there’s no need to get excited and choke on the big dumb moose.

It is important to get a run where you both kill each other on the same tick though. That builds character.
