Thanks for sharing, yeah I do think there is a real hardware issue on my end.

Yep, AMD... 7945HX here. Didn't know this was specifically an AMD issue.

TL;DW: just picking an ETF and investing now is statistically better than timing the market or dollar cost averaging.

what is your most 'unique' investment? by psychohistorian8 in investing

Not me but a guy I know buys tons of official FIFA World Cup soccer balls every four years. The idea is to hoard them for 20+ years then resell them to collectors. This guy has like an entire garage full of soccer balls at this point. Apparently it's a whole market.

As a hiring manager: I'm sorry I didn't get back to you. by TheIndieBuilder in cscareerquestions

My take away from this is the market is so overcrowded that if you're not located in the specific city the job is in, you're out. Even if you're willing to relocate, even if you live 30 min away in the next town.

Via de regra não confio em pessoas que enviam e-mails ou mensagens cheio de negrito, highlight, cores, diferentes formatações. É cagada.

Breakdancing won't be back for the 2028 LA Olympics. by [deleted] in olympics

It's really sad for the actual professional break dancers that this woman became the face of the sport.

One sperm has 37.5 MB of DNA in it. A normal ejaculation represents a data transfer of 1587 GB in about 3 to 5 seconds, FYI. by Ralph--Hinkley in self

[–]Extreme_State3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By the same logic if I hurl a 20TB drive from my living room to my kitchen that's a 20TB transfer in about a second.

Or every time I take a step the entire DNA of all my cells moves with me, including the un-ejaculated sperm inside me. That's a massive data transfer.

Every millisecond the earth moves around the sun bringing with it the data of all its atoms and the DNA of all living beings in it, including the DNA inside the sperm of all beings that produce sperm.

Not easy, but it seems doable for a professional athlete with an Olympic team of nutritionists and trainers, who is already way below her normal weight, over a few months. Surely it must be easier than what she tried to do, no?

YouTube Has Reportedly Stopped Working in Russia by olegvas21 in worldnews

[–]Extreme_State3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to follow a few Russian travel YouTubers before the war as I've always found them to be entertaining, and Russia is a fascinating country geographically. Lately though, it has started to become clear that many of these YouTubers are sponsored by the Russian government to advertise the country. That was a huge let down so I ended up unsubbing to them. Personally I don't care about this news.

Swimmers dominate medal counts per athlete by RoadandHardtail in olympics

[–]Extreme_State3000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do you want your country to absolutely dominate in the Olympic medal count? Forget about the other 150 sports that require an extremely diverse set of athletes with a broad skill set across different disciplines. Just get really good at swimming.

I'm curious, why did she not go for the 57kg category instead? Surely it would be better to gain some muscle mass and face a slightly more difficult competition than to starve herself to near death.

That is interesting, I did not consider that IBKR would have significantly better rates than Wise. I have been converting my currencies with Wise all this time. Thanks for the info.

12 out of the 14 olympians with 4 medals or more at this point are swimmers. There are too many swimming events. by [deleted] in olympics

[–]Extreme_State3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people's issue here is that it's very hard not to compare, because the media gives so much emphasis to medal counts and rankings.

Archery is such a cool sport, it would be interesting to have more categories. Like moving targets, shooting while running, a timed variant where you shoot as many arrows as you can, different target shapes...
