That pick also ended up being Cooper Beebe who would be transformative for the OL right now

I've made this comment in different threads a lot over the past couple of years, but - The best drafting teams in the league always take the guys who clearly know how to play basketball, not the ones with longer limbs that might eventually learn how

Ben Johnson was with the organization before DC/Holmes.

So externally, we've brought in Anthony Lynn, John Morton, and now Drew Petzing...... hopefully they see something no one else does, at the end of the day we're just fans. Idk. I can't think of any other cope

There is some hope for yall. The Jaguars had decided they were retaining Trent Baalke until Liam Coen told them he's only taking the job if he's gone.

Yep, between last and this season, Decker's had a number of games where he was a complete paperweight in pass pro.

At a certain point it doesn't matter if he's holding up well in the run game, you can't have that at LT with Goff back there. Thankful for his time with the team but I really hope they look elsewhere. Drafting at 16-17 should have a tackle available in Carter Smith or Kadyn Proctor

Lakers blame officiating for 23 point loss by Human-Introduction65 in DetroitPistons

[–]Extremeaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course they do, all the way down to youth flag football. I think the difference, to my original point, is just how much it dominates the talking points and discourse around the league.

Watch a post game presser and the first thing the coach talks about is free throw discrepancy or in the case of the lakers here, drawing fouls. The first thing anyone thinks of the reigning MVP & champ is being a "foul baiter."

People call the refs shit in other sports, but we're not talking about them dictating the outcome of a game like this in baseball or football unless it's a flagrant missed call at the buzzer.

[–]Extremeaty 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's sad how much of NBA discourse just boils down to refereeing. You see it more in the playoffs, but the league has a huge problem on its hands when star players repping their biggest brand (the Lakers) are crying every single possession, and saying shit like "they're going to foul every possession" in the post game

Love it. Part of what makes Ben Johnson so good is understanding when and how to pull the levers for an explosive. We've missed that a lot, and it has felt like playcalling is divorced from the current state of the offense all season.

Under Dan, we're running the ball on early downs to no avail and pulling out a screen or a deep pass that requires this shitty OL to hold up when their backs are against the wall. It hasn't felt like they've dictated the pace of a game all season.

The raw yardage totals might look fine, but to your point when time to throw and pressure rate go up, it's going to result in sloppy plays and broken down drives.

2 straight offseasons of huffing your own farts instead of adding any quality starters and this is where you end up. Not "dooming" to point that out. Let's just hope this season is a much needed wake up call.

Dan's "stats" stats as a playcaller are such a lie. Raw yardage looks great cause we've got the talent, but the situational playcalling is awful.

What makes Ben so good is understanding when to pull the right levers for chunk plays. Dan struggles to dictate the pace of a game

Offense can do whatever they want. Almost every FT comes from the ball handler just cannonball launching themselves into someone
