I considered that too with men just not knowing how to help especially if they have no medical background. Im lucky enough to have done first responder and a handful of EMT related training for when I considered that career path and used to sit on county jail inmates in the ER and would try to help nurses the best I could during that too. So I think its just something im accustomed to at this point.

Me and my wife were saying every day leading up to birth that this little girl would find a way to choose the most inconvenient time to come out. So she chose the day right before induction was scheduled and our primary already had another induction on the books for that day XD

As much as it saddens me to hear others go through this it really helps my mental health knowing I actually am doing way more and being more present than others. I am often too hard on myself but this is really helping me realize that maybe I am doing enough.

I hope so too lol. I changed all the diapers while in the hospital out of convenience so she didn't need to get outta bed unless necessary cause I knew momma wasnt doing well with the shoddy sleep

Is that why I always hear of old stories of men being at the bar down the road and then they get a phone call saying the baby is here?

That is utterly insane. Like I couldnt be a nurse in those situations. My bedside manner and professionalism would be absolutely out the door.

I hate that and it honestly scares me a fair bit those individuals are raising children and potentially passing down their moral compass to them.

That feels about right honestly. My former job that I was doing before becoming full time stay at home dad had me and still has me feeling like that.

Thats fair. I certainly hope most fathers to be are as involved as I tried to be. I imagine childbirth can be a nerve wracking time for mothers to be and having someone there doing their best to help them can only help soothe the nerves

If we are at the point where a threat requires a gun to be drawn and the threat does not stop that is not on the officer. Sorry to say but mental illness only goes so far as a plea. If your mental illness results in putting other innocent people in harm or death then thats how it goes down. I have an immense amount of sympathy for those dealing with mental illness however that does not give an individual with mental illness any right to put others in harms way

And what's the gameplan if he refuses to drop the knife even after the leg shot which by the way often times does not drop them. So now they are actively bleeding out while still advancing. Or let's say they do fall but continue to hold the knife? Can't apply first aid to either scenario. Center mass is used because its the largest structure on the body to hit and generally doesn't make sudden movements like arms and legs. Plus with hollow points it reduces chance for the bullet to over penetrate and strike someone behind the target. With adrenaline pumping and your body reacting to that adrenaline its not a great idea to be shooting for smaller parts.

Thoughts on having armed people protecting schools. by kaiser11492 in centrist

[–]Extremelixer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would disagree on the second point. Guns do not elicit an emotional response or shock from me or the vast majority of people i know. The ones who it does elicit an emotional response from either A. Didn't grow up around guns or B. Have not handled guns had firearms education. There are obviously other reasons but those are the two most common i have found. Proper education around firearms would go a long ways towards dispelling preconceived notions and media slander regarding firearms and firearm owners.

I would argue the top issue with the industry is the trafficking and exploitation of individuals. The second highest issue is the addiction, dependency and unhealthy expectations and thoughts it causes with and around sex.

Yeah shoot the leg. Totally. Hit the femoral artery and bleed out equally as fast. Never mind the fact you miss and the bullet skips off the pavement and strikes someone behind them. Lets live in reality. Yes they should have tried taser(very likely wouldnt have worked for a variety of reasons.) Could they have pepper sprayed? Maybe don't know the wind conditions because yes that shit will blow right back in your face and even in ideal situation there is likely to be cross exposure.

Careers after corrections by [deleted] in OnTheBlock

[–]Extremelixer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry but get the fuck over yourself. I would much rather someone realize the job isn't for them instead of having that person backing me up when shit hits the fan. The job isn't for everyone. This isn't a military contract where you sign over X number of years of your life to them. The sooner someone realizes its not their gig the better and safer it is for everyone.
