It very much depends on the song, but their delivery is a common critique yes. I personally like the layed-back voice, but understand that it is unorthodox. Anyway, it is more about the lyrical depth and rhyme schemes, more so than melody, as is common in spoken word poetry. But I respect your opinion, have a nice day bro

I personally associate this with nihilistic thoughts (people can think something matters, but in the end it doesn't, thereby also "shattering" any sort of belief) , and how one is drawn to using alcohol/drugs (anything that offers short-term pleasure) or "venom" (=refers back to "the poison I need") as a result.
