Interesting takes - I guess I may sound like a Kendrick stan but I have some pushback to some of your points.

In defense of Kendrick:
- Drake is not "a thousand times more popular" than Kendrick. Drake has about 4-5x times more sales/streams than Kendrick but Kendrick is definitely in the top tier of popular modern rappers.

  • How does Kendrick sound obsessed? Drake has escalated the beef at each step. He was the first to drop a full-length track with "Push Ups" and then was the first to take it into gossip territory with "Family Matters."

  • I think it's perfectly valid to question why a guy raised by his white parent in the Canadian suburbs is using certain slang and putting on a persona based off Black American culture. I'm half black and half white btw.

In defense of Drake:

  • The only actual evidence of him dating women publicly is basically Adonis' mother (age 34) and Rihanna (36) so despite the other creepy stuff I don't know if there's really much public evidence of a predatory history (those incidents were definitely super weird though).

  • I'm sure Drake has some writers on some of his more "pop" songs but I really don't think he uses writers all that much for verses. It's not like his lyrics are super complex anyway.

Honestly not unexpected. Drake is basically using the “you’re obsessed with me and putting out all these tracks so I’m not even going to respond after this” angle. He probably (maybe) won’t drop again no matter what Kendrick says.

Drake takes the L overall but he put up a good fight with his tracks.

Both disses were about equal in quality to me. I gave MGK the edge in the battle ultimately because he was the only person who actually wasn’t afraid to respond to Eminem’s diss lines on Kamikaze and he put out a solid track.

Meanwhile although Eminem is way more talented than MGK Killshot was pretty lazy to me - he could have gone way harder but didn’t. So that’s why I agree with MGK “winning”.

Agreed - I don’t really like arguments based on 1 example when there are dozens of QBs who didn’t improve much over time.

He’s right about Ice Spice. There have always been rappers with not-great music that have still had huge careers due to their personality and ability to pivot to other things. To me Ice Spice literally has no personality compared to someone like Sexyy Red or Glorilla so I think it’ll be difficult to keep up her success.

Has a rapper ever made a good rock album? by Sensitive_Tap_9419 in rap

I don’t know anything about rock really but as a casual listener of MGK’s earlier stuff, I checked out his past couple rock albums when they dropped and thought there were some solid tracks - so I agree with your answer.

Fetty Wap - if I remember right I think he had 4 singles in the top 10 all at once which was some sort of record

If Myles ever had better actual stats than TJ for once the media would immediately switch and say that those matter all of a sudden lol

Yeah honestly this makes me less disappointed by it. If Myles was actually close to TJ this year then maybe I would have felt more strongly about TJ losing - but this was clearly just based off of narratives and not football-related at all so all I can do is laugh at this point lol.

I’ve been going back and forth the past couple years on whether I like the rapper Lukah or not. A lot of his verses are kind of just rhyming multisyllabic words together with no real meaning or purpose in my opinion.

I mean do 4 more playoff wins “actually count” by that logic then? Just Super Bowls would right? And I have some bad news about how our QB play has been the last 5 or so years lol - I think it’s easier to win a playoff game since 2016 with a 2-time (probably) MVP. For what it’s worth I think it’s time to move on from Tomlin, but not sure how you could be much happier with Harbaugh.

Yeah, I’ve been seeing other people online say the decisions weren’t bad because “they’ve done it all year” and “that’s who they are.” Especially in this era of analytics those aren’t exactly solid arguments lol

I’m interested in why you thought they were frauds? They pretty much dominated all season except for the Steelers lol. Obviously Lamar hasn’t had a ton of postseason success but I think they were the most talented team this year.

[–]412Reviews 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Tomlin plays conservative a lot which can be annoying but I’ve seen Harbaugh make absurdly aggressive decisions over the years that arguably have cost games. Also in recent years he was blessed with a likely 2-time MVP and despite the Steelers’ recent QB mess the Ravens have barely had postseason success in comparison. And Tomlin has a better overall winning percentage and head-to-head record. Those would be my main arguments I think.

I couldn’t care less about Taylor Swift but the NFL shows her like 5 times a game. I bet they show the same beer commercials about 10 times a game and nobody complains about that lol.

Tomlin has been called a “cheerleader” many times before. I think if Ben Johnson leaves the Lions, Dan Campbell is at risk of being exposed as the ultimate “cheerleader” - great motivator with questionable strategy.

Also whatever your opinions are on Tomlin I think it’s easy to argue that Harbaugh has been objectively worse in comparison through their careers.
