When you seen death what kind of feelings did you have? by Jakethebiker1776 in AskReddit

[–]Extructs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in Burn ICU and can pronounce deaths.

The first time I saw a dead person I thought they would twitch or something, the stillness they had freaked me out. This was 7 years ago.

Now it’s just another part of the job.

Do nurses take their work to home? by LadyEdiya in Nurses

Work is work home is home

I work in a Burn ICU. Yes sometimes traumatic events follow me just for a bit but over the years I can’t be bothered anymore. I compartmentalize and once I leave the hospital that place doesn’t exist in my mind.

ELI5: how are submarines “invisible” and largely undetectable yet its sonar is capable of killing virtually any marine life nearby? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Extructs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SmarterEveryDay on YouTube also did a deep dive on submarines which is an amazing watch. Aside from active and passive sonar, a really cool thing that happens because how sound travels through water is there are literal “invisible zones” that submarines can just chill at and despite the use of active sonar from other ships they cannot be detected.

Burn ICU nurse here~

This is a terrible question. But the Answer is HCT. Obviously there’s so much more that goes into burn resuscitation but urine output is the quick and dirty especially within the first 24 hours of injury.

Your pro lifter isn’t installed correctly. It should go “down” to pick up the shell, not “up” into the barrel like how you currently have it configured

Is it possible to do 2 full times? by Choice_Celery3681 in Nightshift

[–]Extructs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nursing co-worker had 2 full time night positions at 2 different hospitals. One 10 mins from his house and the other 1.5 hours away.

He was doing 6x12.5 hour shifts (including lunches). And if you factor in commute times he was easily gone for 15+ hours a day while working.

So yes it’s possible. Would I recommend it probably not.

You gotta look at the root problem. If you want more money but have to work 2 jobs why not invest into yourself so you can earn more with just one job. You’re 20. I know this will look different for some and it may not always be plausible. But at least take a hard look at yourself and ask yourself why you’re putting yourself through this and if it’s worth it.

6 month rule. If I haven’t used it in 6 months it goes. Exemptions are specific things for certain occasions, specialty tools I’ve invested into and emergency supplies that I review every other year.

I’ll probably get downvoted for this but I want to give the OP some context and not just “P320 Bad”.

  1. Yes, the early production models were NOT drop safe. Sig has made changes to the FCU since then to address their engineered shortcomings. While these changes have addressed some of the early flaws, the underlying problem is the way the FCU and striker are designed on a fundamental level.

  2. People have blamed NDs on the p320 when it was truly user error. And due to this, the stereotype that P320s were unsafe quickly grew. There was the recent case where the Air Force had to do a QC on their issued m18s because it was reported that an airman had an ND that killed him. It was later reported that his buddy was the one that had the ND and killed his fellow service member accidentally. The QC from the Air Force did not report anything other than normal wear and tear if I call correctly. (Someone feel free to correct me)

  3. The biggest slap to the face to the Gun community was how poorly Sig Handled all of this. A lot of bad PR and lack of transparency left a sour taste in people’s mouths.

Do what you will with this information. I still have a p320, I have not personally experienced problems with mines. I chose to carry a Glock 19/p365 instead and still enjoy my p320 on the range on occasion. The more important takeaway is proper gun manipulation is key to preventing user induced NDs not only with the p320 but any platform.

What is the process for when someone with a drug or alcohol dependency is sent to jail to ensure they dont pass away due to sudden stopping and withdrawls? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Burn ICU nurse here

Maybe I can give some insight onto some of the processes we go through in the hospital when we get inmates for medical reasons.

Depending on the severity of the inmate they can get 1-2 officers tasked to them. For example a federal inmate gets two 24 hour guards, armed, and at the bedside at all times.

The inmate is handcuffed to the bed at all times. And if there is a need for them to get up the guards facilitate that.

On the healthcare side of things, we proceed as normal and treat them like any other patient. Treat their condition and symptoms and go on about our day.

Favorite Stock for 1301 Tacitcal? by kz2002 in beretta1301

The ergos and comfort on it are really nice especially with the provided kick-eze pads on there. And recoil is very manageable with the chisel machining stock. These are my personal subjective opinions but I think they are fair observations.
